Amazon Says Jan 26 - Feb 13!

Well, finally an update, but not good news:

We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on November 22, 2011 (Order# -----------------):

"ASUS Transformer Prime TF201-B1-CG 10.1-Inch 32GB Tablet (Champagne)"
Estimated arrival date: January 26, 2012 - February 13, 2012

If it means the product is that much more solid, I'm willing to wait, but I'm anxious to see if it becomes available other places a lot earlier. Note that the U.K. release was recently postponed to Q2 2012, so there's obviously been a holdup.

They obviously didn't learn from the mistakes made in the release of the Xbox 360 and so many other major devices...brilliant...though since ASUS hasn't exactly had a "cult-level" fanbase, I guess having a small shortage is acceptable, but it seems this shortage is way beyond what it should have been, even given that they had a bigger base than they thought they would, they should have at least made enough to consider themselves overprepared by a small margin...this wait is insanely painful!!

I ordered same item, same color, same gb size and same date and I was told today by Amazon via chat...

"Yes. This date is just an estimation and you can expect the order before December 25. Our fulfillment centers and carriers are working hard to ensure packages are delivered as quickly as possible during the holidays. Orders with estimated delivery dates of December 24 or earlier are receiving top priority. I'm confident your order should arrive before December 25."

So did you have an earlier "estimated delivery date"? My order showed right from the start to expect delivery "after December 25". Was your order different somehow?

Mine said same as yours and then was updated this week. Reading on some other blogs that people were getting shipping notices from their various PO's I started a chat with Amazon and asked them.

I have resigned on getting my po'd transformer tab by the end of Jan 2012. I originally was waiting for the release of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. Then I discovered Asus prime. I will just wait (the paranoia is killing me) or until the new Galaxy with retina display comes along.

What was your date showing before they emailed saying that they were shipping? Mine has been saying estimated delivery date of 1-11-12 for about 3 weeks now. Was hoping it may get pushed up a little. I also have the 32gb Champagne.

Where did you get this information? Still says 17th of January on Carphonewarehouse.com and i have not been told of any delays in my pre-order.

Asus state on their official facebook page for you US buyers;

1) ASUS have begun to ship units on 12/19 and will continue to fulfill online and in-store orders.

2) ASUS started filling the inventory pipelines this past week for our new Eee Pad Transformer Prime and will continue to do so on an expedited basis for the foreseeable future. We will reach normal inventory levels in January for the North American market ...

My mistake. That story referred to the 64Gb model.

Same here for the 64gb Grey... I also ordered a Grey 32GB no email on that one yet so looks like since were officially the 2nd batch of pre orders we have to wait... Still waiting to see estimated shipping date of the 32GB model I didn't order it.. Till the 18th. Or 19th.. Same deal with dock says not shipping for 4-7 weeks.. Oh well still happy but would have been alot happier if it made it by Christmas

"Arun :Alright, I am sorry for that and you need to believe us either they are providing the wrong information or they ordered it before you. Because we provide the order as per customer ordered."

Thanks! I really don't think Amazon has any clue as to what is going on. I called them and stated that there are people who ordered after me who are getting shipping dates, but my order still says sometime after December 25th. They claim that they will ship first come first serve, but based on the fact that several of you have dates and I did not I am a bit leery about how true the first come first serve policy is. They repeatedly said not to trust forums. While I do know that you have to read between the lines when getting information from a public forum (I own and operate four forums myself) I also know that there is more good information in most cases than bad. What would anyone benefit from posting false shipping information? Bragging rights?

Anyway, I guess once you complain they just make up a shipping time. he told me anytime between December 28, 2011 - February 9, 2012 and now my order says the same thing after hanging up the phone....time will tell I guess.

Figured I might as well update this board with my latest chat - here's the only pertinent part:

ASUS has started shipping the Transformer Prime tablet to us in extremely limited quantities. Amazon will be fulfilling pre-orders on a first come, first served basis as we receive inventory. Unfortunately, we are unable to tell customers precisely when their specific order may be shipped as we are still waiting for inventory from ASUS.

About an hour ago i actually ordered the 64gb champagne ... i really wanted grey, and didnt think i needed so much storage, but i figure many people werent ordering that so my odds of getting one quick were better.

5min later i came back to my senses and cancelled it, and ordered the 32gb grey.

i was really hoping to have this by xmas but i went with newegg because amazon totally looked like they didnt have it together but now i seem to be behind and not a word from newegg other then the 27th
