Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Ok so I'm getting my mom's Rezound all set up -- I have discovered i HATE Sense. It's really really way too much for me, it's definitely to complicated for my mom. Off to root I go! Wish my luck, it's my first time.

with you on this one. sense is completely overbearing which is why i was 100% committed to AOSP roms on my thunderbolt. i still can't believe the sense roms were 300+ mb's while most of the AOSP ones were less than 100. sense was great when android was a bare-bones operating system, but i honestly think HTC would be better off abandoning it for ICS. this OS is too beautiful and functional to ruin it with a manufacturer overlay.

UGGHHH. Why is this so complicated? I thought 4g phones were easy to activate lol. And then when I call customer service, they ask for the number of the phone that needs servicing, but I don't know the number yet. lol.

Ok time for a Bed Bath and Beyond adventure with boyfriend! I'll be back for more nerdyness tonight for sure.

BB - that is an awesome wallpaper!

Hey BB, could you resize these as a single page picture?

Meaning, it's all on one home screen and not spread out over three or five?

Sorry guys, for not telling where I got the pic or softkey mod. I didn't think to post it.

Good thing BB and the gang were here!

Cool, right? I saw the Tron Vader in red, too, but now I can't find it.

I am so excited to have a functional Nexus. Battery life is fantastic on this one. Think I am gonna squeeze around 7 hours out of the very first charge...and that is with 4G going, WIFI at home and 3G when no 4G was available. I was getting 3 hours with the limon I had before.

Han...you are a flashaholic!

Now I just need to get my computer cleaned up before connecting to mod!

Gotta go get dinner. Miss you guys and gals. When Christmas is over I will be around more.

Hello. Big update from the tluley part of the forums...

Called VZW again seeing as they told me last Friday that they would call me back regarding my reception issue and they never did. Told them the problem which most of you know already but long story short, I get terrible reception at my house and my house only even though I am in the middle of a 4g area based off their maps. So I got connected straight to tier 2 tech and expressed my problems and sure enough after telling her about the problem, I lose reception and the call gets dropped. Bingo. Perfect timing I guess. I call back and get through 5 minutes of the stupid automated phone system and eventually the tier 2 tech lady called me back shortly after. She expressed how even if I am testing the dbm of my device on regular 3g CDMA versus a 3g device on CDMA, the results are going to be completely different due to still different radio's and the comparison just isn't correct. I expressed how I still thought it was fishy that a newer amazing phone drops calls in 3g when my year and a half old Droid X never dropped calls. I told her I honestly didn't think my device was defective seeing as I can pull full LTE about 1/4 mile down the road either direction, it just seems that I am having bad luck in between 2 towers. She agreed, but gave me the option of having a brand new Nexus shipped to me anyways just to test out and see if the connection is any better on another one. I agreed to accept the offer and a new Nexus will be here for me on Monday or Tuesday.

After talking to some friends about it, if I get this device and it DOESN'T solve my problem (which I think it won't, it really is just my luck that I am in the only soft spot of LTE in Greenville, SC) then why would I use the new device? I have about 3 or 4 hours of customization and things on the memory of the phone that wouldn't be worth getting a Nexus just a week and a half newer, right? Do you think it would be a problem if I activated the new phone to see how the reception is then call them and let them know the problem wasn't fixed, then reactivate my old phone? It would just be nice to not lose all the customization I have done and not have to AGAIN unroot and relock the bootloader which I have already done once. Suggestions?

Would one of those reception boosters work or what ever they are called?

Why is it that I'm still seeing commercials on TV for the Rezound and Razr constantly, yet have never seen a single one about the Nexus? :/

They changed the verizon holiday ad to include the nexus. They did it last Thursday.. I have a video on YouTube of it.

NOVA UPDATE!!!!

Now supports hide able status bar... Christmas came early :)

ALSO:
I didn't notice a big signal change at home with the new radio but it doubled my reception at work and it is really nice :)
