Help firmware I7500XEFJB2

Yep, I'd expect to have to enter these myself, I always have done. The problem is that when I select the screen to edit Access Point Names it comes up blank - totally black with just APNs at the very top.

Yes, it comes up blank because it doesn't have APN settings for your country. Hence you need to add new APN, rather than edit what is there.

At that blank screen, with APNs written at the top, press menu and select "New APN" and enter your settings then...

Good news! Shame it's not 2.0/2.1 but hopefully this will help GAOSP even more, I think I'll personally hold out for that too.

What is the firmware version on this then? Can someone post the info from the about phone menu?

*#1234# and I see these:

PDA: I7500XXJB6
Phone: I7500XXBJ2
CSC: I7500XEFJB2

JB6 = Feb 2010 Version 6
XX and XE are European land codes and apart from APNs it means nothing really.

Firmware Version: 1.6
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 root@sep-53 #1

Excellent so it is 2.6.29 :)

Just noticed Drakaz had already posted that too, and confirmed that HW3D is in this firmware so should work fine for GAOSP. Also bluetooth should apparently be fixed for GAOSP too!!

I think the main thing left to sort out is just the camera now (and a few other bugs too though). :)

Well, first Samsung has to release the kernel sources and I don't think they will do this before the update is released officially

Just watched it repeatedly connect and disconnect to my macbook pro.

I'm also seeing the google voice search issue - it varies between just failing to start, or accepting my voice input then crashing out.

Here is what I did to test Voice Search app. I restored the 1.6 firmware to the factory defaults and only installed Google Voice Search and phone and the app worked fine. I voice searched multiple things and google search results opened over and over without (m)any problems. :)

Then I decided to install apps one by one and test Voice Search between installations and see how it works. Next app I installed was a Google Map update (to 4.0) from the Marketplace.

After the Maps update and phone restart, Voice Search no longer works as it either freezes or simply doesnt start.

@hagi, @master darko What version of the Voice Search app are you guys using ? I'm using 1.3 however aTrackDog shows that the current version is 1.5. Maybe we will not face issues with the newer version ? But then again the question remains, how do we get version 1.5 ?

"Google search by voice" is in the market for this firmware - but version 1.4.1. I am also having fun with it - it did one search then refused to do any more.

1. Market downloads - originally showed all my previous downloads as normal, but after locking and unlocking the screen, the market only shows the 4 I had managed to redownload (not a biggie).

Just FYI, I had this too. All my old apps showed up in the Market's Downloads list and I couldn't download anything, it just kept saying "Starting download.." until I cancelled it. This happened many times even with the screen locking and closing the Market app in between tries.

What got it working for me was emptying the Market app's cache (Settings - Applications - Manage applications - Market - Clear Cache), for whatever reason it had survived two factory resets as well as a transfer through these firmware changes: IK5 -> JB2 -> L3 -> JB2. Yeah.. dunno what happened there.

Do not unpack the 'tar' file.
Choose it as the 'one package', and also check the 'one package' optin.
