Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

completely off topic, but hey, this is the lounge and i know we have some star wars fans in here. ;)

STAR WARS UNCUT IS FINALLY FINISHED!

i have been watching their segments since the project started in '09 and can't wait to see the whole thing at once. fans were asked to submit 15 second homemade clips of episode IV which were stitched together to make the entire film. seeing so many different takes on such a familiar movie is amazing and makes for some hilarious moments.

:D

I'm looking forward to checking this out

Interestingly enough, when I checked again, everything was there! Lots of updates to take care of, haha. There was still one app listed as Not Installed, but it was one that I'd gotten through GetJar, not the Market. Thanks BB!

Sure thing :) Another big one coming soon.

So when I flashed b19 AOKP my apps weren't showing up either so I cleared cache and data...rebooted...signed into market....entered in my pin for app purchases and configured settings...that last part is not necessary of course...then checked my apps and all apps appeared. I did have to uninstall mc3 and install that purchased app directly from the market as it was not finding it valid as a restored TiBu app.

Tomorrow is my dads birthday so I took the family out to dinner tonight then dragged everyone into bestbuy and picked out a new 42" led TV for him :D

Should be a nice step up from the 27" sharp tube he has been watching. He is not technically inclined so I got a basic model for mostly football and baseball games and perhaps a movie or two.

Happy birthday, pop :D

I'd buy my kid an iphone...it's bulletproof so not worried about them bricking it. It holds it's value well so you'll be able to sell it for not much less. Cheapest is upgrade price.after that, try ebay. Though if get her a 4...the s isn't much better

Are Fruit Phones discounted anywhere? I don't see them at Costco or Amazon. eBay is full retail. I'll use an upgrade I have on my VZW account, so $199 looks like the best price.

Evening, all. I'm a bit late to the party tonight and just catching up.
Loved the snowy pic...don't really want any here though. A single snowflake and they close everything down and make us stay overnight at a hotel to be sure we can get to work in the morning!
Running CNA 1.1.4 themed with black and cyan and it is really nice but I am not all that crazy about nova launcher with it. Hope it improves in landscape mode soon. Until then I am back to ADW. Still not a bad proposition but I really like those folders in nova.

morning all. I have an odd kinda-techie-computer-phone-nexus question about wifi.....for whatever reason, our ISP, which is our cable company, likes to randomly refresh our IP address. Basically what that does is disconnect our external internet, until we manually reset our modem, because the router and other components on our home network stay connected together, just no external internet. What I am finding is that my nexus is staying connected to the wifi...and not releasing it to go to 4g. Do any of the techies have any ideas on how to adjust this on the nexus, or is this something I just have to deal with.
Biggest issue was last night. The IP address got dropped at about 730pm....I had just used the nexus at about 7, and by 808pm my battery went from 42% to 0...and shut the phone off. I can only assume it was trying to sync or something like that and with the external internet off.....FAIL.

TIA

That sounds like something else is the issue. Typically when the internet is gone it the phone just won't sync. I've noticed that it saves me battery.

As for your router issue are you sure its the IP issue? I have a problem where for whatever reason when I'm at my parents house and I connect to the Wi-Fi I crash it. It will stay connected and such but the internet will go away. I have to manually reset the router. The issue is the POS router/modem Verizon gave them and my dad is to lazy to buy a new one. Maybe if you have a old dlink or something to use plug it in, and then connect your devices to that and see what happens

Yeah but unfortunately it really is the ISP. They have some kind of policy about refreshing the IP address periodically...strange but puts a kink in networks. It all comes down to the modem not reconnecting....since the router has static routes set...once the outside IP is refreshed....the modem does not connect until rebooted...gotta do something with the modem I think. This is our 3rd modem with this ISP.
I am just not sure if there is a setting for the nexus...maybe a ping app? Or tasker? Or a keep alive app...something that would switch the data source for me if not connected....huh..that sounds like maybe not a good idea.....have to rethink this question prolly.

Not sure, but it sounds like your modem/router settings may be to blame. It sounds like you are using a separate modem and router, so that's what I assumed (that's the setup I have). Look into DHCP and NAT settings on both devices. Google your specific devices if you are unsure about how to access their settings (it's usually accessed by going to 192.168.0.1 or something in a web browser...). For my setup, I have DHCP and NAT disabled on my modem and "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" set on my router. It's my understanding that this will turn your modem into little more than a passthru device and your router will renew your IP when necessary. Since I changed my settings to this, I have not had any issues you've described (yes, prior I had experienced similar outages).

Good luck...

is there a way to have the phone autologon onto a network? I have a network at school that periodically disconnects me, re-routes me to a login webpage and i have to keep putting in the same ID and pass throughout the day.

humm not sure my phone does this to me while i am at school i just kinda live with it or just use 4g

anyone using beautiful widgets, what's a good weather theme to mach the ics cyan color? i've been using berry blue, and it's close but no cigar

There really isn't one to match. The clocks are closest matched on Ice Cream Infusion or StyGian ICS. I really like VOS glass, opaque glass and blackish for my weather skins. They are able to blend into most themes.
