Here's a list of the Wireless Tether for Root beta's . I would start w/ the first and work my way down until you find on that works . No guarantee but it won't hurt 2 try . :D

Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting

One more thing , some will work as Ad-Hoc and others will work as true wifi . I use the beta 11 and both work on my Prevail .

Thanks for the info. i had the 2.7 version and updated it to the 3 beta 11. I didn't have an issue on 2.7 other than the ad-hoc setting failed. Still the same on beta 11. Though they both still worked for me. I pretty sure ad-hoc is not needed to still admit the WiFi signal.

so are you able to connect other android devices and a ps3 to the marquee since i know that android devices and ps3s dont connect to ad-hoc signals or is the marquee able to produce a true wifi signal

I have a Boost Marquee. I have it rooted with ctmod and the Unleashed kernal OCing to 1.3 ghz. I figured out the whole "LG hidden menu>settings>data settings>NAI>no" thing to make the wifi hotspot work, but... it won't f***king work and it's real frustrating. It will show up on other devices and they are able to connect to it but those devices aren't able to access the internet. What else is crazy is that all the while, I am able to surf the net on the Marquee. I'm wondering if I somehow accidentally set up an ad hoc network and if so, how in the world do I change it to "infrastructure" mode? I know this thread hasn't been commented on in a minute but I really hope for some good advice. Thanks.

If only if there was a way we're it is automatically off every time we reboot without having to go back in that would be awesome.

Oh and also the hotspot only works with 3G not Wi-Fi. So whenever you start your phone for hotspot 3G will only work.

Yeah but not for cable tethering. Wifi works when using an app like Klink for cable tether.

Hey I also have a boost Marquee running ctmod 3.6.5 with 1.5 hyper kernel same problem wifi signal appears on my computer but it wont acess the internet

Doesn't work here also and I cannot get wireless tether to work either!!!

I don't understand how this is so split on this phone!!
Going through the post it seems there are as many that can't connect as can?

All the phones I have had even my vintage samsung with their proprietary OS was able to tether...

Very frustrating and disappointing!

i dont know where i posted it but i defently got mine working, had to leave it on for a sec then when my computer was trying to connect it kept failing giving me some crap taking longer then usual ..... but then i had a smart idea to diagnose/repair connection while it was trying to connect and it started working. was happy as could be.....,also you might want to go to your marquee connection on your computer right click, click properties hit show characters make sure your network key matches up. . i was also running stock setup for wifi teathering diddent change a thing .. not that it probably matters... but thats how mine worked :p

Well had various issues with phone so I used my extended warranty at BB and got a new one.
Wireless tether v2.0.7 works now but ctmod built in still just connects to puter local only.
Anyway, the above version worked for me, so ppl that can't get the built-in to work might want to try that.

-=Helpful? Hit Thanks=-

Just a heads up. If you bars graph on your computer has the yellow icon saying it's not connect, it lies sometimes. Mine always says that I have no Internet connection but it is connected and:D works fine. Just because your computer says it's not connect doesn't mean that it isn't

The hot spot does that on all of my computers. It'll give the icon says that it has no Internet connect but it actually is connected and works very weii.

I gotta get help somewhere because I'm pretty sure I've tried everything. I just tried "wireless tether" and it connected but still no internet transferred. It does the same as the native CTmod hot spot. I'm definitely getting nothing but adhoc networks. I wish it was some sort of illusion but it's not. I keep thinking it might be a hardware issue but it just doesn't seem to be.

If the browser times out due to local connection, try right clicking on network connection icon and select repair & diagnose and try the various options like reset network controller, renew IP address and such.

I know what your saying biker, that has happened in the past with me on various phones and when you open a browser/page the icon would change and the page would load. I sometimes would have to go through the steps I recommended above to wachoface also but on this phone I just haven't any luck with built-in for some reason.
