Just like the title says. Do any of you regret using the leaked version of 2.1? If so, why?
I actually only had 1.5 for for about 1 week before the 2.1 leak came out. During that week, I was just adding apps and messing around with whatever I could. I personally don't really notice a big difference. Cept for the phone lag is gone now. I suppose I don't regret switching, even thought I don't remember 1.5 very well.
I do. The phone messes up when I need it the most. Too many bugs for it to be functional. Far too many crashes and stalls. Too many restarts to fix an issue that never had a problem with before. I think it's a leak, and I'm paying for updating it now. The OTA will be a relief for me, as my phone will finally operate normally. I can see why it's a tester's build. Not stable nor is it able to be a permanent solution.
Overall the features are cool and the phone is snappier as well as utilizing RAM and processes efficiently. So, I say 2.1 is a vast improvement from 1.5 but as it is the tester's build, not gonna make any definite statements until I see final OTA. I don't want to see the same issues with final as I'm seeing now or I'm selling this piece to the dev's and getting something else.
Not in a million years. Best thing I've done to the phone so far. Can't wait for root though!
Just when I am about to leave work and go home and make my phone 2.1 I read this and then it makes me think... ehh maybe i should wait? But if i wait and in 2months still no update and others are saying 2.1 is close to flawless why not go to 2.1? Or what happens if 2.1 OTA update never comes out and or it has the same file name and we can't recieve the OTA update? Ughh the suspense is killing me. (i'll prob. go home tonight and jump to 2.1 anyways. lol)
I would love to upgrade to 2.1, but after reading some reviews, I couldn't stand to lose a bar or two of signal. Well, my battery couldn't stand to lose it anyway.
I would love to make the phone snappier, but I'm not sure the trade offs are worth it right now.
It's not flawless, and anyone who tells you that is a fanboy and not looking out for your best interests, nor are they helping the community with unbiased opinions. Whoopeeee!!! the best thing ever made!!! OMG
It's crap to do that. Anyway, wait for it. It's ok but not what the experience should be. Hang it out until 2.1 OTA. My honest opinion. Its not worth messing with your phone or experience to update with a questionable build of 2.1.
What about the tester's build do you find better that makes your phone the best thing you've done so far?
I'd recommend everyone who can't decide if they want to switch or stay; to keep 1.5 until all the bugs are worked out of 2.1. The bugs will end up making you upset about the upgrade and regret it your choice. But for those who are gung-ho about 2.1, run over to my 2.1 Tutorial or click the link on my Signature and upgrade! Let us know how it goes.
Speed. Zero crashes. Everything but one app I had on 1.5 works. (Calorie Counter) I love all the little tweaks to the UI that they made, like the Settings list, it just looks cleaner. All in all, I'm very glad I upgraded, and am looking forward to the official OTA update to fix the sign in issue.
Yeah, that's another thing that bothers me but it hasn't made the signal any worse. So I would say it's not calibrated to show true signal strength.
Sign in issue only happens when you start the phone right? So if you leave your phone on all the time you don't have to worry about it.
I love that I upgraded to 2.1! We just got back from a vacation to Florida where the Nav/search features were very handy. Phone doesn't lag as much with the messaging app, facebook contact sync(as in adding phone numbers from facebook to my contacts) YouTube works GREAT! The gmail login is a bit of a hassle and I have noticed a slight decrease in battery(which I'm sure with a few more setting tweaks I can make go away) Besides the leaked version doesn't void the warranty. If it changes something you don't like you could have VZW replace it for you and get a fresh start with 1.5. Its a no lose situation really.
I've had issue with people not hearing me, but not with calls not connecting. I honestly haven't made many calls since the update as we've been on vacation so i can't tell if its better or worse. I know what you mean about not wanting a refurb. But if this update caused a problem that I couldn't live with I think I would have to bite the bullet.
