Root Battery

There are tons of things to do to fix this.
1. Underclock your phone.
2. If its an old battery it may need to be replaced.
3. Turn off automatic brightness/lower screen brightness
4. Turn off haptic feedback.
5. Turn off background data.
6. Turn off auto sync.
7. Use wifi when its available and turn it off when it isn't.

Pretty much turn off anything that happens automatically. I'm sure more people will chime in with more stuff I didn't think of.

You may have an app that is keeping your phone awake 100% of the time. Go to menu>settings>about phone> battery> battery use and see if your up time and awake time are similar. If they are, then your Evo isn't properly sleeping. If you have Spare Parts, you can find out which apps/services are running hot by going to battery history and selecting "Partial Wake Usage".

If everything looks the way it should after performing these checks, I would chalk it up to a bad battery.

My up time and awake time is the same... How do I fix this

A simple reboot usually does the trick. I suggest you wipe cache/dalvik cache prior to rebooting. After that, monitor your up time and awake time to see if it happens again.

If it continues, use Spare Parts to see exactly which services or apps are keeping your Evo awake and end those processes accordingly.
