Root [ROM] CyanogenMod 7 Huawei M835

guys how would i go about switching the res on the rom to fit on my m835 screen.. im talking about the ascend rom thanks
Try downloading rom toolbox from the market and go to where it says build.prop tweaks and move the bar that says lcd density or density until the value is either 120 or 110 and save the changes. The screen should fit after a reboot.

So has the Wi-Fi issue been fixed with CM7 for the m835 yet? I just bought one of these little junkers to play around with. If it still has Wi-fi problems, could I just root it and use TBPro to remove the bloatware, keeping the stock ROM on it? LOL, I would ask about CM6 for this phone, but I've never seen it mentioned while searching through AF :)

This rom itself has ZERO WiFi issues, the rom with WiFi issues is the m860 build (which is just more up-to-date CM7 and why people where using it).

working on the ascend 2 too ;)
Hey PG, thanks for all the tutorials and help with this phone. I whave the same phone from metropcs: Huawei Ascend M835. I used "SuperOneClick" method to root it. But i noticed that. IDK how to get the drivers for my computer [i'm running windows 7 ultimate x64 bit] and i obviously have the USB drivers installed, but in device manager i do not have a "DBADAPTER Interface)" mentioned in the ((3G forM835)) 's method.....

can anybody including you, can help me find the drivers soon as in ASAP, i've must've been looking in the wrong places. thanks for the effort in helping me...... plus i wanna obtain a better ROOTED ROM, because i also have to use a "better keyboard" app just to be able to type/txt on my phone because for some reason i lost my non-swype and swpe keyboard.apks that came with the phone

I actually have no clue, the instillation for the first one that PG made worked fine, but didn't have wifi, the keyboard was too big, MMS didn't work. (Although I fixed that), and it "kinda" chews threw battery.

The other one that Dm47021 sent to us won't install on some phones.

If you need help installing just post, I monitor this topic frequently.

@TBTE: Do you know of any sites where I can download the GApps for my M835? I'm running the CM6 port for the Ascend. Works great, but I need a market connection :D I've tried flashing various GApp zips to my phone, and none seem to work, or even show up. I also tried to flash a fresh CM6 in tandem with said GApps, and nothing.

You need the Gapps for cm6 kind sir?

Go to recovery and install zip from SD Card blah blah blah blah

TBTE thanx for the reply, didnt think anyone was still looking through this thread.
If i was going to install the cm7 rom, how would i do it?
and step by step process i need to know about, and can i go back to my stock rom if i dont like the cm7 rom/

Well if you have don't have Root (I'm being so stupid right now) you shouldn't be here.

If you do have root (Which you probably do) and you are running Froyo (Which you probably are) you need to download the ROM from PG's Wiki page, then when done with that go to android market and install ROM Manager.

Open up ROM Manager and get pass the impassable ADS OF DEATH, and it should ask you for you to install a clockrecovery and it should show up as U8150 (This is basically the m835 with a different name), install it.

Now hook the USB cord up to your computer (or if you downloaded the ROM from your phone skip this skip), enable USB Mode, and drag the ROM (in the .zip form) into the root of your SD Card.

Put your phone out of USB Mode, and go back to ROM Manager, click Install ROM from SD Card, It should open up a browser with your SD Card contents on it, go down to cm7 or whatever the ROM name was. and click install.

When this is clicked it will ask you if you want to:
*Backup Existing ROM
*Wipe Data and Cache
*Wipe Dalvik Cache

Click all three, you need a backup of Froyo just in case something happens or you just want to go back to it.

It should ask you if you are sure you want to reboot in recovery and install the ROM, say yes.

It should reboot in recovery and automatically start going to work in recovery, towards the end of the operation you should get an error saying *sd-ext was not found, skipping backup of this.* This is normal and you shall ignore the living hell out of it.

After getting done with the backup it should start to actually install the ROM, you should get the same error about the sd-ext, once again this is normal.

After that your ROM should finish installing and it should reboot with your new ROM!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

The new ROM is going to take about 2 or 3 minutes to boot so don't worry.

Just set it up from there~

Also if you need gapps just holla @ me.

The gapps for froyo will be kept in the backup for you xXDanTheManXx. ;)

2001mikeh, I they haven't made one that has the Wifi working.

I however am working on one for this phone.

@xXDanTheManXx I cannot get the Ascend ROM or the clockworkmod for it on my phone, it just gets stuck on boot, but not worried about it. If you can help me about that i would be much happier.

@DanTheMan: If you just rooted your phone with ClockWorkMod, THE VERY FIRST thing to do is go into CWM recovery, click on the backup/restore menu and create a backup file of your current 2.2.2 ROM. In case your CM7 flash goes to shit, or you want to go back to 2.2.2 just go into that same menu and click on restore. Done.
