I'd like to see what some real world speeds are for specific carriers. We all know what they promise, but lets see what they're actually delivering.

Phone: Evo 4g
Carrier: Sprint
Location: Phoenix, AZ
No Wimax in town, so 3g only

Last night at 11:04 PM: 217 kbps up, 273 kbps down

And that is during the low traffic hours.

At&T Skyrocket (Atlanta):

  • 64 ms Ping
  • 6651 kbps Download
  • 3087 kpbs Upload
Can someone tell me if that good or not? Thanks,

6 Mbps is pretty good. It is low for what At&t is claiming of their LTE speeds, but it will certainly get the job done.

In reality speed tests are a lot like benchmark tests. They are cool to see for the sake of comparison, but real world application is much more important. If your phone were to get 500 Mbps in speed tests, but didn't perform that way when downloading or streaming media then it wouldn't really matter. As long as the speeds you see in the test reflect your real world needs with the phone then you are doing good.
