Help Stopping the verizon update

Is there a way to get the phone to stop trying to update the OS? I'm running an incredible flashed to work on cricket service & it will undo my flash I think. So I'd like to get it to stop. Any tips/advice would be appreciated.
You would need to edit the build.prop file in the system folder. Haven't seen anyone report what it needs to be changed to yet though.

On my rooted handset, I edited the build.prop file(/system/build.prop).

After a complete back up for safety sake, I changed

ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc:2.3.4/GRJ22/185897.2:user/release-keys

to

ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc:2.3.4/GRJ22/389630.15:user/release-keys

Then rebooted. It gave me one more notification before I could delete the downloaded update. By the time I navigated to the cache folder, the update file was gone. The phone says the system is up to date, and I haven't seen another nag since.

Where is the cache folder the update is downloaded to?
