(Background/Unimportant - I broke the 3G antenna being an I-D-10-T :stupido2:. The WiFi still works as it is a separate antenna. I am giving this phone to a friend who wants to use it as a VOIP/WiFi phone. :call2: This particular friend lives a few hundred/thousand miles away.)

I am trying to purge my Samsung Galaxy Prevail of the following data as I am giving it to someone:

Under the following 'path':

Settings> About Phone> Status

-My Phone Number - Displays the phone number the phone was originally assigned to.

-User name - Displays Boost Mobile UID: ***@myboostmobile.sprintpcs.com

This is the information I wish to remove.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED:

  • _________________________________________________________________
    1. Make sure the phone is turned off
    2. Press and hold the up volume button (keep holding it)
    3. Press the power button until it says "Samsung Prevail" while you are still holding the up volume button
    4. Hold the up volume button until it comes up with "Android system recovery"
    5. Using the down volume button scroll to "wipe data/factory reset"
    6. Press the camera button to select it
    7. Using the down volume button scroll to "Yes -- delete all user data"
    8. Press the camera button (remember this erases all data and returns it to original factory settings.
    9. Select "reboot system now" by pressing the camera button
    10. Phone will turn off and back on.

[*]I have used Odin and flashed a new ROM onto the phone.

    [*]I have root permissions.
I have CWM Recovery v5.0.2.7.
  • I have cleared the following:
    Dalvik
    Battery Stats
  • I have done fix permissions.

    [*]I have performed:
    wipe cache partition
    wipe data/factory reset

I realize this may be an odd request, but I am a IT security guy, and a bit paranoid. Don't Trust Anybody is a life style for me, LOL.
Assistance is appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Vex

Hi there, welcome to the forums! I would recommend dialing ##786# and selecting "Reset" to see if that helps

After doing as palmtree suggested, I was prompted for an MSL code. Below is what, and where I found how to find it.

If anyone else comes across this need, the MSL code can be found by doing the following:

"This is the Easiest way to get your MSL code for your Samsung Prevail including all CDMA Android smart phones. Just go to your Android Market and download Terminal Emulator.

And Type in "su" (for super user access)
And then type "getprop ril.MSL" (then enter to get you Device's MSL code)"

This did clear the data I wished to remove.
