Hello,
I have recently lost my ability to speak, and it will never return. However, the job i had before this happened involved alot of making and taking of phone calls. And i was hired back on and being able to do this again would be a great thing for both me and my company. And that is why i came here for assistance. I am looking for either software for my computer and some sort of app/software combination, that would allow me to answer a phone call on my cell phone, and be able to have a conversation with people. Being able to have an automated answer message such as "hello, youve reached "name", i am using a synthesized phone system, please be patient on responses" and as the person on the other end was talking, i would be able to be typing out a response and as soon as they stopped i would press enter and the message i typed would be spoken by the phone and heard on the other end by the other person. I am not looking for a perfect app or voice, but anything that can perform this function in the most basic of forms would be a lifesaver. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

One possibility is the free open source espeak

Depending on what you wanted to do, you might be able to use it in a terminal session. Letting it speak a line after you press enter, eg.

hello, how can I help you
What operating system are you using
OK go to Control panel
etc.

I've put espeak on my phone, to announce notifications and messages. I like it because the voices sound completely robotic and not natural at all. Using the West Midlands accent voice, i.e., a brummie Android in China. :D

...for anyone who doesn't know what brummie is..
