Root [Virgin Mobile] All-In-One Custom ROM User Guide

need help flashed omnirom an deactivated my phone prl say 1 can anyone help?

Just go back to recovery, wipe, and install your backup. When I flashed Omni earlier today I had no data or phone signal, when I flashed my most recent backup of Carbon everything was fine. For now, Omni seems to be very much an alpha build and has a ways to go before it is legitimate for our device. Ditto for the new thread on XDA regarding CM 11, I think the guy who ported it was so anxious to be "first" that he was willing to release an alpha build with virtually nothing of importance working properly. Much better to wait for Cyanogen team to start releasing their version most likely. If push really comes to shove you should be able to flash a 4.1.2 Touchwiz ROM, reset Profile and PRL, and then come back to 4.3.x.

ive tried cyan 10.3 but keyboard is wont load up which cyanogenmod works? im trying 10.2 nightly latest

I've generally been staying clear of Cyanogen until they get a stable release, as it seems like a lot of people, according to the forum on XDA, have been having problems that make the current builds seem not worth using as a daily driver. Personally, I swear by Carbon ROM; in general, the ROM's that are using a CM base appear to be more compatible with our phones right now. That being said, if you want to use CM 10.2, the M1 Snapshot is probably your best bet currently. I would also stay away from anything "unofficial" for CM 11 at the moment, seems like the desire to have KitKat as early as possible is leading to problems for a lot of people. 4.3.x is running just fine in terms of custom ROM's, and official Cyanogen versions of KitKat will be rolling out soon enough. Better to use that time to let the developers get more comfortable with 4.4, especially with ART vs. Dalvik and some of the other things that are giving early users headaches.

If you are referring to changing "where" the carrier text displays I don't know how to do that or even if it is possible. If you want to change "what" the carrier text displays that can be done on most custom ROM's via the ROM-specific modifications in the Settings menu. XBlast Tools, via Xposed Framework, offers the same thing also, and allows a different custom message on the lock screen as well in place of the carrier text.

Ok now with the new boot loader I guess if we want to flash a cm based rom we have to change the update script to UBMK5 at the end or what ?

That should work or get rid of the assert lines altogether. Remember that the assert lines are looking for the bootloaders listed before they will allow the flash to proceed as a security measure to prevent flashing incompatible ROM's. As long as it is a d2spr (Sprint) ROM you should be fine.

Sorry for the dumb question, but for the carbon rom, is our device the i9300 or i9305?

Those are the international variants, DO NOT choose those or you will have an expensive paperweight. You want d2spr which refers to the Sprint variant of the SGS3. Post three has the links all set up if you want to choose a ROM from that list. Both Sprint and VM SGS3 are also known as SPH-L710.

Thank you so much! Just flashed Carbon ROM. Anyway to get MMS working? Also do you know if the pocket ready feature is working for you?

Flash MopedRyder's fix for MMS. And what do you mean by "pocket ready?" Are you referring to Active Notifications? If so, it works, but I prefer an app called Dynamic Notifications, I think the UI is much better. I upgraded to the pro version for breathing notifications and for the ability to trigger the on-screen notification when phone is taken out of my pocket or my belt holster.

I use MopedRyder's APN fix #1 and it works just fine with Carbon, which has been my exclusive ROM since mid-October. Possibly a different Carbon nightly might work better. I can upload my current version to my Dropbox and post a link if you want, since I know it works fine on my phone. Also, which recovery are you using? If you have TWRP, maybe do a full wipe (cache, dalvik-cache, system, and data) then install, in the same session and in this order: ROM, GApps, APN fix #1, then reboot. Make sure you have a working backup as usual. I use a custom kernel as well, may not hurt to try one.
