Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Holiday stuff... Work is insane this time of year. I did find time for a Merry Christmas to me though...and am now officially broke. Bought a new car. A silver KIA Soul. Even managed to find one in my area with a manual transmission. :D

I've never driven a stick shift.

Nothing like driving a stick, BB! :)

HOME is insane these days. Darling Bride is 3-4 pints of blood low and doctors haven't found out where she's losing it or how fast. She's very weak and prone to headaches... mostly due to her cells not getting enough oxygen from the blood she has left. That and her heart is working double time pumping what's in there. Quite concerning: they won't give her a transfusion until they can identify where it's going.

Her sister, freshly widowed, is also here for Christmas. Disabled to the point that she needs help. Other sister staying here helping, but she's disabled too! No wonder I go to the store so often: it's a break from having my name called to do/fix/look up something! Tough being the only rooster in the hen house... even all three dogs are female :p

I am as ready for Christmas as I'm going to get. Of course, I start my Christmas shopping on December 26th... then, throughout the year, as I see things on sale that I think would make good gifts, I buy them and stash them away. By the end of October I'm generally 95% done with it all.

Understandably, I will likely be very sparse in the forums for the next few days. You guys behave (mostly) and have the merriest Christmas ever. Or happy Hanukkah. Or Happy Kwanzaa. Or just have a reasonably pleasant but otherwise non-descript winter week :D

Hope they find out what is wrong very soon!

Hi everyone!

In a great mood today. Jailbreak for iOS 7 has been released, so my retina Mini will be free soon! :D

That's not good, Chief. Have they looked into ulcers or scheduled an endoscopy? It's got to be going somewhere.

My friend's son had the same issue a few months ago and found an ulcer on an artery or vein somewhere, which caused a LOT of blood to pour through it. An easy operation fixed it, once they found out. But they couldn't see it without an endoscopy.

I know it's a shot in the dark, just throwing up ideas.

Thank you folks. No test scheduled YET, of course it's Christmas AND it's the VA... so no telling how long she has to wait. I called this morning and left a message for the doctor regarding the possibility of a transfusion for her, but naturally got no response yet.

I appreciate the prayers and well wishes. Same back to all of you. I will keep you posted.

:)

I thought of this while driving today.

I bought two of my nieces and nephew two gifts for tomorrow. One of their gifts I placed inside a cereal box. I found out what kind they like and I placed the gift in a ziplock bag then I opened the box from the bottom, pulled out the bag, cut it open, placed the ziplock bag inside with the cereal, taped the hole shut, put the bag of cereal back in the box and finally glued the box of cereal closed like it has never been opened.

So now they get the one gift and then they have to wait until the next day at breakfast to get the next one and also enjoy some cereal for X amount of days. :)

Greetings, people. I am in a nice mood today, although I had a rough evening.

We met up together with some friends to play board games. One of the ones we played was "Apples to Apples". I won't bore you with the rules, details, etc. but suffice to say that you are given 7 red cards that you have to draw your answers to questions from.

At one point (I was very far behind in the game), I decided I didn't like a few of my red cards and began swapping them out for others. This is not allowed by the rules, so I guess it was technically cheating, but I did it in plain view of everyone. My wife was the only one that noticed (there was a lot of chatter going on), and she pointed her finger at me (literally) and yelled that I was cheating. Everyone, and I mean everyone (about 10 people) really started into me. From then on, instead of referring to me by name, they called me "cheater". My wife wondered aloud why she had ever married me. Another suggested to her that she check my bank statements and phone records to make sure that I was not cheating on her either. Another suggested she hire a private detective on me.

It was funny at first, for like the first 10 minutes, but after about a half hour it got to be too much. I suggested they all look in the mirror when they got home and think about how they bullied (which is strongly frowned upon nowadays). They retorted that I do the same, except think about how much a perverted cheater I am (I don't know why the first person threw in "perverted" in there; I hadn't done anything to deserve that, at least last night, but everyone laughed and changed my name to PC, for "perverted cheater").

I like to joke as much as the next guy, but it got to be a bit too much. They could tell I wasn't pleased near the end, and my wife asked her best friend to text her before bed to make sure that I hadn't murdered her.

She's fine. I didn't murder her.
