Root [MetroPCS & T-Mobile] Any Custom ROMS?

Quick question. I don't own this phone, but I'd like to know something. Has anyone removed the stock launcher when debloating? If so has removing it caused the lockscreen settings to crash?

I tried it on my t-mobile f3, and it does crash :( (good thing I did a backup before trying it :)) Well maybe you can have a custom launcher and custom lockscreen like nova and widget locker. Also if you do manage to succeed, how will it be? Just a test debloated rom? Cause if you can just do that then it amazing since it would be a good start. I'm not trying to rush you or anything, just asking.

Yeah figured it would crash, just wanted to be sure. For anyone doing a rom they would have to leave the stock launcher and lockscreen in to avoid bugs or crashes and just use whatever launcher/lockscreen they want on top.

Also for anyone doing a rom just a warning, you cannot include any paid apps in your rom or the moderators will take it down.

Oh right I forgot widget locker was a paid app! Well thanks for letting me know that. I guess its okay with free trial apps like nova launcher, but widget locker is completely paid, sorry about that.

Oh I forgot, one last question. Is this the recovery everyone here is using?

http://androidforums.com/metropcs-t...rkmod-recovery-lg-optimus-f3-ms659-fx3mt.html

I'm using lte2 2nd init recovery since you can't boot into the cwm recovery you made, it's safer for me if I get bricked and when I tried to boot into recovery with it using the toggling power buttons I got boot looped in cwm and couldn't boot normally anymore and had to flash the firmware again. So I use lte2 2nd init recovery for that reason.

You're confusing me for someone else, I never made a cwm recovery for this phone.

Well before anything gets remotely done for this phone I'm gonna need someone to test cwm recovery. Doesn't have to be you since you already had a bad experience with it and I totally understand.

What I'll need is for someone to install the recovery HERE and then install a recovery reboot app from the play store. Could try my app HERE or any other.

Once both are installed open the app and use it to boot into recovery. Once in recovery reboot back into android and let me know if your data got wiped or not.

Oh I'm sorry, I confused you for PlayfulGod who made the recovery. And for the recovery I have used it and tested it out. I was able to reboot into recovery by using the more power options in xposed module: gravitybox with more power options allowing me to soft reboot and reboot into recovery from the normal power menu! Pretty nice if you ask me :). But I did reboot into recovery and it didn't wipe data. I also created backups and restored as well. The only problem with it is you can't boot into it and if you do, your screwed. But anyway you can reboot into it with an any app and it doesn't wipe data. And once again I apologize for mistaking you for PlayfulGod, it won't happen again.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that you can boot into this by pressing power+volume down, but that wipes data, but not from rebooting from the actual system.

What highlighted in red above is most important.

Oh don't worry about it I wasn't upset that you may have thought I was PG.

My reasons for the recovery questions is that the 2nd-init recovery that you're using is from another phone and doesn't work to well with loki which will be required for a rom. Plus 2nd-init sucks in a way because it's installed in the system partition which means if the system is wiped you wont be able to restore a backup if you're bricked.

I did a rom for another phone in this same situation and they had trouble with 2nd-init and did nothing but complain.

You guys would have to use PG's recovery with a rebooter app. And if you get bricked you can use the button combo to get into recovery which will corrupt data. To get past that you format the data from mounts and storage in the recovery and then restore your backup.

Thanks for confirming PG's recovery works as needed. For now I have all the info I need.

OK I wish you the best of luck. Also after I figured it out, I did switch to PG's cwm after realizing you can boot into recovery with power+volume down, which may wipe data, but that doesn't matter if your bricked ;). I found out why I bootlooped in it though, I tried using the boot method for 2nd-init recovery (toggling volume up+down) so that triggered the cwm bootloop bug I read about. So thanks for telling me why PG's cwm is better and once again good luck :).

Your wish is my command! I have the zip file ready for you, but I noticed two things. First, there is no /persist-lg/firmware on my phone (so I just included the entire /persist-lg directory) and second its the wrong version. After I uploaded the zip, I reread your post and realized that while I am on 10c, its T-Mobile not MetroPCS. I don't know if that is still going to be useful to you or not, but here is the link nonetheless.

OK thanks and I guess knock knock is only good on high end phones like the g2 and g3. I just have one last thing to ask and I promise I won't bother you anymore. How do you get the circle battery with percentage inside for this phone? I've seen it on the screenshots for the f3 and f6 on your website and I'm wondering if its in the customized rom, if not can you say how you did it?

Got that /firmware/image/ directory and same thing on metropcs no /lg-persist/firmware/

Also, I was wondering if you could help me...I was in the process of trying to port cm to this device and I am kind of hung up...I used the mkvendor script to create all the files for /device/lge/fx3/ and I think I set up my extract-files script fine...I am such a noob that I can't even tell if I got a sucessful build...here's my build directory...

Ok so I made 2 roms for this phone. One is completely stock debloated for those that like to be on stock, I don't know why lol. The other rom is highly customized and is the rom that most will want to install. Just gotta finalize a couple things and then I'll post them.

I do need someone to post 2 folders from the phone for me with all the files in them. You must be on metropcs firmware 10c. I need the following folders...
Code:
/firmware/[COLOR="Indigo"]image[/COLOR]

/persist-lg/[COLOR="Indigo"]firmware[/COLOR]

I just need to look at the files in those folders. Zip up those 2 folders and post me a link I can download. ;)

I have the same phone on the t- mobile network in usa. How easy/hard would it be to make a T-Mobile custom rom for this phone if i was to provide a rooted stock rom back up through cyogenmod recovery?

( completely clean and stock. Just has root and recovery.) :) just PM me for the backup.

I wont be making another rom for the t-mo version. I've already made a rom for the metro version and has been confirmed to work on t-mo version without issue.

Here is the thread for my rom, please read through the posts...

Yes as GameTheory said, the roms are made for metro pcs and almost everything for the metro pcs f3 works for the t-mobile one. And I'm pretty sure the customized rom will also work for t-mobile considering the SlimLite rom did, if not then just flash the metro pcs firmware and then it might work. PS its clockworksmod recovery (cwm recovery), not cyogenmod recovery (cm rom).
