Root LG Volt Stock ZV5 Rooted Rom - Odex & Deodex

Thank you to everyone for their work on this. I'm up and running with odex version and changed to ART with no issues so far. Seems much snappier, but that could also be that I always do a full factory reset on rom installs...

While we may never know what the new radio really does, I do seem to be getting more than 0 bars on LTE at my house now. I may just let it stay on for now. I previously disabled LTE due to a dramatic decrease in battery life once Sprint clicked it on in Denver.

Not sure if this is the place to post this but I have a question regarding battery drain and the new update. I was on zv4 and battery life was great. After updating to the latest version (rom and radio) my battery drains very fast and my "time without signal" is always in the high 90 percent range. I have rooted and installed many custom roms on all my all my phones over the last few years but I still dont know any of the "behind the scene" stuff. Is it possible to reflash just the radio from the previous version? do you think it would make a difference? or might it just be a coincidence that I am getting high battery drain after updating? If it helps I did try ##72786# and then reactivated but no change.

thanks in advance,
allen

My time without signal is 82% but my battery life averages 2 to 3 days depending on usage. Time without signal seems kinda high to me, but not sure how it's measured.

I'd check settings > battery and see if any apps are killing your battery. If nothing obvious shows you could try reflashing radio to see if it help. If not reflash ROM from clean slate.

How long has it been since you upgraded? Try charging with phone off one time and see how it goes.

You can try to recalibrate your battery.. Apps in the play store make that easy. Just charge to 100 and run the app, sometimes this will work too.

I upgraded about a week ago. Before the upgrade I could go 2 or 3 days but now barely a day. Last time I tried a recalibration app my the battery display was all screwy and was never accurate (different phone though).

is anyone one else having a problem with the link? both links give a 404 error.
This.

I know how annoying it can be to have a lurker show up out of nowhere asking for assisstance, but in this case I can't seem to find anything else. I'm getting 404 errors on both of these links. Any chance to have them mirrored somewhere, perhaps Mega? Thanks for any replies. This community has helped me out time and again and I really appreciate how much you guys know your shit.

Before you reflash everything, try this:

I was having the same issue and the steps below outline what I have done to fix it. If you notice unusual battery drain later on, it is most likely due to new apps that have not been blocked, so just repeat these steps,

1 - If you have not already, install Clean Master from the play store.

2 - Grant it super user permissions.

3 - Click on the "Phone Boost" tile

4 - Find and click on "Autostart Manager"

5 - Let it run and then block all unnecessary apps from starting on bootup and in the background by switching them from on to off.

6 - Your done!

7 - Repeat as necessary (when you install a few new apps)

Hope this was of help! I've blocked close to 40 apps and my battedy is now lasting a full day (I'm a VERY HEAVY user, so that is spectacular for me)

Thats the kind of battery life I was getting on zv4. Might try reflashing zv5 again.

I have to disagree completely with this. Clean Master is not a way to fix anything. I would rather see you use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autorun

Before even that though, try Snapdragon Battery Guru. It's a battery/phone manager made by Qualcomm specifically for the Snapdragon processor. You can also use Greenify to identify apps that are using up your battery and have it block them.

My time without a signal is always high, it's currently at 98%, but that may just be due to being on Wi-Fi most of the time. I still get over 2 days worth of battery. I'm currently at 77% after 13 hours off charge and estimated 24 hours remaining, which will increase overnight when it's just sitting idle for 8 hours.

You can flash the zv4 radio if you want, it shouldn't be an issue. A factory reset might also help.

I have well over 100 apps installed, so autostarting is a big issue of mine.

CM has worked perfectly for many of my needs, including this one. Before I used CM for this purpose, I could only manage a few hours of battery with this phone, now with nearly 40 apps being blocked from ruining my phone's battery and performance, (mostly games and other things that don't need to be running in the background), I can go a full day on a single charge and my phone is snappier due to the fact that unnecessary things are not running in the background and things I am using are now prioritized.

However, if there are better solutions than the one I've offered, then by all means share them and how to use them. But for me, CM has worked great for what I need. The only feature I don't use is the RAM cleaner, which is, as you know, bad for your phones performance and battery. It's a great tool to let you know when an app is /apps are being power hungry or constantly restarting, or when an app/apps are draining your battery, or when your cpu is overheating, etc.

I've heard of Greenify and tried using it years ago, but never saw any difference, probably because I was misusing it, idk, so I used other apps to block autostarting, but now CM does it perfectly and simply, therefore I have one less app to worry about and more internal storage for other apps of my choosing.

Either way what matters is that (s)he finds a solution that works, so the more suggestions the better.

:)

Clean Master is just not a trustworthy app in general. I provided a link to a different autostart manager that doesn't have all the extra bs that clean master has, and offered other apps to look into. I have 97 user apps, no autostart manager, and get 2+ days of battery easily. I understand many apps have unneeded autostart settings, I just feel that Clean Master is not a good way to deal with that. The only manager type app I have is Battery Guru, and it's not really doing much.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I have not had time to try anything yet except right after my first post yesterday I did switch to CDMA only. Which I know is a no brainer since it should reduce battery life anyway and it did. Since then I have only lost a small percetange of battery life. What gets me is that even with 4G LTE enable I saw very good battery life before updating. I have always used a startup manager, it's one of the very first things I do after rooting. I have not installed or updated anything in the last week.

Maybe its all just a coincidence and maybe there is a real problem with my signal but if I can flash the zv4 radio I think I am going to try that before anything else.

I'll say this though, since updating the rom to zv5 my phone seems to run smoother than it did already.

No link2sd. I think the problem was that I had 2 backups in the TWRP folder on internal storage and it ran out of space. I deleted one and upgraded to z5 and it seems ok. Right now, it says I have 1.39 gb free out of 3.93 gb on the internal storage. Does that seem right..this is a brand new phone that I just got yesterday so nothing on it yet? Seems like I ought to be able to have more than one backup stored without it having storage issues. Do the backups have to be on the internal storage?
