IMPORTANT: HUGE update to AndroidForums.com

Seems to me the PC browser experience is mostly the same except for device subscriptions and stickies. New Posts on a browser still works the same way. :)

As long as there is a browser version still available...I like to check threads on other devices/apps.

Seems to have the same functionality as Channels, or am I missing something?

Yes, same as Channels. Rob said earlier that Channels would be like a test platform for new fun things.

PC ... all devices are in the same forum ... all previous device forums marked as favorites are now gone.

I set Android Devices and Android Apps & Games as a favorites and I can now select New Posts and it will list anything that is changed in either of them. I have to skip over the stuff I don't care about and periodically Mark Forums Read.

From the old app, I used to browse other devices, topics or places (The GN Watering Hole ;) ). Can't do that anymore.

Like Chief, I signed in using Google address, which was wrong, my mistake. Can't sign out as far as I can tell.

Kind of creepy and useless being offered to star favorite forums consisting of each of my private apps. To what end, since AF has no forums for my apps?

Still learning!

The app will only do forums and threads you are following best I can tell. Seems to me the PC browser experience is mostly the same except for device subscriptions and stickies. New Posts on a browser still works the same way. :)

I much prefer to use my PC browser, as it allows me to see the entire post at once, complete with the appropriate formatting.
The app will not allow me to insert bullets, etc...

I
like
to
format
"my way"

Okay I noticed one change right off all the phones show up as "Android Devices" when you choose New Posts now but the individual forums still exist. So you could from the home page just choose your phones forum and see what's going on there if that's all you're interested in. I can live with that. Works the same with the Chrome browser on my phone too.

Sometimes to build something bigger and better you've got to do some bulldozing. Demolition isn't ever pretty, but when you see what's built in it's place, and what monument is erected, your opinion changes.

I see a lot of that sort of thing in China, there's a nice community of houses, everyone knows each other, bulldozers go in, they throw up a useless shopping mall in it's place, it stays empty and nobody ever goes there.

Okay, I have a question (technically one question in two parts):

The Forums app logged me in using the Gmail address that I use for the Play Store... which is exactly NOT the email address I use to log in here on the website. And there's apparently no way to log out to change addresses. So:

Is there a way for Android Forums to list both email accounts so that Moderator controls show up on my phone? And if not, is there an update coming to the app that will allow us to log out and log back in using a different address?

That's exactly why I won't download the app. Ever.

The Galaxy S7 forum has changed significantly. It used to include the S7 Edge. And,
1. What happened to the "New from favorites" button?
2. I can't seem to find the :mark forums read" button either.
3. I can't find the "Mark as favorite" button or star.

Only two of the favorites I had selected previously show up when I go to the "learn what's new" page.

This forum seems to work just like the old system.

There is essentially now only one mega device 'forum' - in the sense of what the website software calls a forum - which contains every thread:

http://androidforums.com/devices/

When you browse to a specific device, you're just filtering the mega list of threads down to threads relating to that device, rather than navigating to a specific subforum - at least as far as I can tell. That's why Xenforo doesn't offer you the usual subforum specific tools, like favouriting, mark as read, etc. This change is specific to the device sections, which is why in the rest of the forum (like in here) things are behaving normally.

So, right now, we're waiting for the forum interface to be updated to catch up with the re-structuring of how the device section operates.

Yeah not a fan of using the forums app on the phone... I have an HTC M7, M8, M9, an S7 Edge, and I like to pop around and answer questions in other areas. It is not very conducive to that. There are a lot of "android questions" that are not device specific that will be overlooked and will go unanswered...People that don't get answers...leave and look elsewhere and rarely ever come back The app is what I consider the "Apple version" where everything is content limited and dumbed down so no one leaves their box...

That and it makes you use a Google login, which I am not a fan of being forced into...(which also makes it impossible to do any moderation activities)

Two weeks from yesterday seems too soon? It looks major but in an internet browser it seems the same.
I'm liking that.

From what I gather there's a major overhaul of everything going to happen, but they have to get the underlying structure ready before they pull the switch.
