Help wifi not connecting

I just noticed my wifi will no longer connect.. I changed the passkey to no avail. It says obtaining ip.. then unsuccessful.. any idea.. reset and battery pull tried already.. thanks

I was having the same troubles on my network at home. Then I realized I could connect to other routers in my building. So determined the problem was with my router. I upgraded the firmware, made sure it was on mixed signal, and the problem went away.

Are you having this trouble with all networks, or just one in particular?

And to the OP, to expand on this, updated firmware can also be the reason it stopped working. I have a Netgear at home and the last firmware update broke my ability to use my WiFi. I rolled back the previous and it started working again.

Bottom line, you may need to either update your Firmware like closhedbb advises or rollback if an update broke it.

Short of that this is pure speculation as we would need to know if anything has been changed:

-Are you the admin of the router?
-Are you using MAC filters?
-Are you hiding your SSID?
-Are you using DHCP? and if so, is the scope too small where the addresses are all used?
-etc, etc, etc...

***I know it is inconvenient especially if you connect to multiple network, but just as a trouble shooting step, you may want to try a Static IP to see if you get connectivity!

LOL!!! Then disregard my previous!!! :D:D:D
Glad you got it working!!

P.S. WPA is better than WEP!!!

WPA is FAR more secure that WEP. WPA2 is the most secure and highly recommended.

WEP can be cracked with readily available software within minutes - yes minutes. In layperson's terms, WEP is equivalent to a locked screen door. It's trash - and will only keep out your neighbor who still uses AOL.

WPA and especially WPA2 with AES encryption is very hard to crack. Check your router and make sure you're using it. And while you at it, make sure your Windows accounts (including your Administrator account) all have passwords.

EXCELLENT description!
With FULL credit to Intrepid-NY, adding a pass-phrase longer than 8 characters with mixed alphanumeric can't hurt!
