Root Need help

Ok...im a total noob, and I really want to root my Eris...I was able to install v3 on my own, so this doesnt seem that hard (lol)... Ive installed SDK...and run setup.... I ve also downloaded the drivers (as required).... Heres my question... will SDK not let me update the drivers until I complete step 1 (flashing the PB00img.zip) ?

Also.... If I flash the PB00img.zip , and then decide I dont want to go thru with rooting.... does it break my phone?

Any and all help witht his would be awesome...thanks in advance.

Hey pd69,
i'm also a n00n when it comes to the root...if you've installed v3, is that a diff phone, or is this a refurb,.. only asking because (yes I'm sure you know, but it must be asked lol,) you cannot root leaked phone.
with that being said, I can say I've done v3 leak as well and this is a bit more complicated.

"will SDK not let me update the drivers until I complete step 1 (flashing the PB00img.zip) ? "

honestly I don't think that's so, as I updated my drivers and installed SDK, THEN went and flashed the PB00img.zip. , but I've heard my way was backwards lol.

"Also.... If I flash the PB00img.zip , and then decide I dont want to go thru with rooting.... does it break my phone?"

I wish I could answer that for you, but I have no idea. I can throw out my two cents, but please don't take my word for it..
I can't see how this would "break" your phone. One of the great things about going root, is that it is possible to go back to 1.5.. as if you'd wanna after seeing how great r00t is and the awesome devs that give their personal time.
hope this helps ..(a little bit at least).
and remember, "If there's a r00t, there's a way!"

I figured that was what's up...

"HELP"

What's up? What are you needing help with I can give it a shot.

the mIRC chatrooms #DroidEris, helped me out a lot when I started to r00t.

Im just lost.... do I need to flash the PB00img.zip before trying to update the drivers on my phone? (step 2)? Kind of a dumb question but, like I said Im a noob.....lol

A more "dumbed" down version of these instructions would help ( im a stupid musician) lol

no such thing my friend!, keep the beat alive!!

anyway this is what I did, I downloaded everything, all the files everything, even a few roms, then I installed androidSDK, you have to download the file, then extract it, once extracted open the SDK setup.exe i think it is, and in there you download, well is says to download files for 1.5, 2.1 and USB drivers, I only did USB drivers, i dont think u need them all, I then set phone to usb debug, then plugged in to computer, set to charge only, and as soon as I plugged in the phone, (im on windows 7 64bit) it auto. started to install something, turns out it updated the files for me I never had to go into device manager and find the yellow exclamtion point.

I'm wondering if that happened to me. ....how could I check ?it keeps saying it can't find the driver files. ?
