Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

There's a big problem here if Verizon's MSRP of the DX is $569 as confirmed on the Droid Landing scavenger hunt rules page and Best Buy's MSRP confirmed by screenamesuck @ $699. WTF? My local BB said they always have the cheapest price...

Well, verizon is selling the phone out of contract, we will match the price. The only exception to this is a mail in rebate. But since there is none, since you aren't doing a contract, they would be able to match the verizon price for you.

Thanks but the hard part here is that VZW rarely ever makes out an ad. Not to mention any ads that may come out will likely only show the 2 year price of $199. Any other suggestions? Do you guys normally call at request to match?

That, I have seen a few times. Generally Verizon will put the full retail in the ad (like, it will say "normally 569.99" or something to that extent, could be in the fine print too). If there isn't an ad for it, as long as they have it in stock and we can call and verify, it should be good :)

I just returned from BB and was told by a CR that they don't honor the $50 off deal when you upgrade w/NE2 and sign a new 2 year contract. She said that only Verizon stores do that. Can you verify this? I was really surprised and disapponted and hope this is not the case. I'm #2 on the pre-order list, but will stand in line at the Verizon store if it means saving $50.

Thanks. I'll try that...maybe even call the manager beforehand to make sure first.

Aookay has been saying that it may be possible in some stores depending on the manager. I am number 1 on the list at my local BB. Earlier this week I went in an inquired about getting the $50 off because I am eligible for NE2. I talked to two different people and explained to them that I knew they could not do a NE2 per Verizon but that I also knew that in some stores they found a way to match the $50 I would get if I went to Verizon. They both said they could not do it and had never heard of such a thing. I then asked if they would ask the manager if it was possible. After about 5 - 10 minutes one of the employees came back and said the manager agreed to sell me the X for $150. I asked what I needed to do on Thursday to get the price and he said he would be closing that day and to ask for him and he would get it done. It has not happened yet but I fully expect that it will. And for the second time I am thanking Aookay for one of his/her suggestions.

awesome! Great to hear you were able to get that worked out :) Personally, I don't see why they wouldn't, if we don't take care of the customer, someone else will.

It's true, we can't do the NE2 the official way through our system, but we can still take the price of the NE2 off the phone. It's completely possible, but from what I have gathered in this thread is that not everyone has had success with it. But there are still instances of it being successful, it depends on the store and whether they really want your business. I've done it with my old managers approval, but we have not had an instance of it since...last year. Most people won't wait till their NE2, to be honest.

When I bought my Storm BB matched the NE2 discount. Just stopped by a local BB and asked about matching my NE2, but no luck. The did have a non-working model and it looked very nice. Much more screen real estate than my Droid, but not bulking at all considering its size. I guess I'll just order through Verizon to save the extra $50.

What is NE2 and how does it result in $50 off? I would be a new verizon user would that make me eligible ?

NE2 = New Every 2 years.

This was a promotional thing started quite a few years back. Every 2 years you can be elegible to get a new phone. Used to actually translate into a $100 credit toward a new phone...now it is a $50 credit.

As a new customer, you would not be elegible for it until after 20 months of a 2 year contract.

Kind of related to that, but on a 2 year contract at what point could you get a new phone at the 'upgrade' pricing (in this case $199). After 1 year? And then on a 1 year contract something like 8 months?

If you have other phones on your plan that are eligible, do an alternate upgrade to preserve you NE2. I have a $100 NE2 that won't be available until July 25th. Rather than waiting (or giving it up), I'm going to do an alternate upgrade using another phone on my plan that is eligible for upgrade. The $100 will hit my account on July 25th and sit there until I upgrade the next phone.

would you know if the droid x media cradle that is being shipped with the droid x will have speakers? and also what kind of case would you think would fit the droid x best? i.e. hard, soft, leather, silicone, maybe brands?

well I called a few different walmarts around me and it appears they are not going to have them on launch day, as of today. They also say the Incredible will be in stock by monday for all of them, but who really wants a Incredible right now anyways.

*the walmart website does have the droid x for sale and will begin selling them sometime in july

I would check other BB and Verizon stores. Around here (boston) none of the stores I've visited have more than 5 or 6 folks waiting. Also verizon is first come first serve (i think) so you could stop at one of them and if they have it then just cancel your preorder.

Hey i preordered my X on July 4th and was told i was 37th in line, and that i would receive mine on the 2nd shipment. When can i roughly expect the 2nd shipment to come?

Thanks so much!

Just a small correction urdaddi. The NE2 doesn't kick in until the completion of your 24 month contract. When in a 24 month contract, you become eligible for the upgrade price after 20 months, but again, the NE2 is after the complete 24 months.

I'm Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of the Droid X!

Nope. The NE2 kicks in at the 20 month mark. I've used mine every time I've been eligible and I've never had to wait the full 24 months. Of course its shrunk from 100 to 50 to 30 now for me.

I agree, I liked the look and size of it [removed by Mod] and compared to the Evo it really isn't much different.

Don't hold your breath. No store knows how many they are getting on day one and the deff don't know how many they are getting on the second shipment. Nobody has dates for when they will arrive yet. I checked my system today and it just shows them on order, but there aren't even in transit yet.

On a side note, I tried to check on the 1yr price again tonight, but no luck. They now have it in the system for us to ring up, but they will not package out. That means they only ring out for the retail price (which is in fact $699.99) and I can't see how much it is after discount. I'm off the next two days so hopefully Aookay can keep checking.

Thanks nekoki, I stand corrected. I still have a $100 NE2 waiting but when I use it to get the Droid X, I know it will drop back to $50 or $30.

Anyway, thanks again for the info.

I'm, Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of the Droid X!
