Gingerbread 2.3 was here, then gone, now it's back

So let's say for fun that GB does roll out on Aug 8, there will still be people on here accusing him of lying because THEY didn't get it Aug 8.
And since I'm predicting that Evan will get crucified... not-everyone-is-going-to-get-the-update-on-the-first-day.

Personally, my hopes were riding on the chance that we might get sense 2.x. As Medion said...from the May update, that boat appears to have sunk.
I still look forward to the system tweaks and any possible improvements brought by a major OS update. *crosses fingers* and maybe the new sense?
If not, I'll just run an inc2 rom anyways. >.>
I think the concern is more...what if NOBODY gets the update on the 8th? What 'delay' will there be? Say that we do...it still doesn't change the fact that he spent nearly a month guessing "next monday" until he finally got it "right" for the WRONG phone.

True, mainly I'm hoping it will allow the next crop of custom roms to be more stable. I understand most of them are pretty good now, but they're built off of other phone's ports or the leak which had some bugs... Theoretically at least being built off a actual Incredible 2.3.3 should be more stable...

Was just going to post almost the same thing. If it does come on Aug 8, it's not that people will be upset if they don't get it right away. It also doesn't validate him - Guessing until you get it right, doesn't make you an authority, especially in the absence of definitive proof

Fixed that for you.
My money is that the august 8th push will be delayed because they need to fix a bug with updating phones that were originally running windows phone 7. I know it sounds silly, but you just don't understand how phone os development works, so verizon still has a number of testing units running windows phone 7.
Oh, and there will be a honey badger led denial of service attack on theit network infrastructure.

Actually no, that is a shamelessly altered quote which was originated by Einstein. He used it to show his rejection of Niels Bohrs Quantum Mechanics which today is by far the most successful scientific theory ever developed.

Oh, and it was changed to reflect the emphasis on 'coincidences' as opposed to random universal happenings as introduce via quantum mechanics.

So What's the best ROM to get to root the Droid Inc to get gingerbread? I'm thinking about trying to root my phone seeing how I'm upgrading my phone in 6 months anyway.

I'm using cm7 nightlies. Right now its android version 2.3.5. It doesn't have Sense which I really didn't like anyway but because of this it doesn't have the 720 video recording.

The biggest reason I care about the release, if I understand how things work, is so the source can be released. I am using Synergy, which is great. But right now, if I understand, all the Gingerbread ROMs with Sense are using the kernel from the May leak. It would be great to get the sources out so the ROMs can really do a job on this phone.
I do have, in the back of my head, the thought that in the VERY unlikely event that we get Gingerbread with Sense 2.x I might go stock, but honestly, I think if the sources get released, we will have some really solid ROMs with Gingerbread and 2.x or 2.x/3.x mixed. (Since they are already pretty good).

I was just thinking about that same thing today. We are going to see so many posts that say, see Evan you were wrong, I did not get the update on Aug 8th. I imagine a very small group of Incredible users will actually see the update on Monday (if it is released).
