Gingerbread 2.3 was here, then gone, now it's back

I'm running 2.3.4 right now very sweet. Ive had it since yesterday. Also was able to use unrevoked forever to turn radio to s-off Very cool. I'm loving the new build.
It is version Incredible-4.06.605.2-Gingerbread-2.3.4-RLS2-Rooted-Signed
Its already rooted. Installed without a hitch.

Both my wife and a friend got Gingerbread on their D2 this weekend. My wife hasn't gotten notification for updates, she always has to check her System Updates.
This is getting annoying.

Hi I'm new here.
I'll say sry if I sound dum.
I called Verizonwireless warranty # on my phone today for other reasons for my incredible, & there yes is an update for d inc 1. She couldn't tell when i'll receive the update, after trying to call HTC today, ( I know there closed, Labor Day) ,but she gave me the phone # for to call Tuesday.
The reason I called is to replace the phone for endless rebooting 3-5 times a day

For what I've read some have rooted & non-rooted phones. have got GB.
I have a question. Is there another way to get update not threw OTA?

btw: my phone is non-rooted

Every time my phone says "your phone is currently up to date", I attempt to strangle a dingo... But I've only succeeded once of the hundreds of times...

I'll probably wait for the RUU based ROMS, I don't switch very often. So I'm planning to do a complete wipe and reload. Because I'm on-call for work this week I'm going to have to wait for next week anyway

(can't really afford to brick my phone when I'm on-call no matter how small the chance is)

For those who have already installed the OTA, did the update go well? Specifically, did you have to re-install any apps or settings, or did the install just work perfectly?

Did u install unrevoked forever through recovery? Let me tell you all this. Since I've installed the build my hboot ignores PB31IMG files and once you use the update.zip chance through it, your done. It like 'dies' until I reinstall the build again.

You are running the ota leak from August. It ran very well on my phone also. But, if you go to XDA there are a couple of builds off the newer OTA that is being pushed out to the Incredible now. The new build number is 4.06.605.3.

Ugh, this is frustrating!

I just got ANOTHER popup on my Incredible that said something about a system update and that my phone will now reboot. "FINALLY," I thought, "I will be getting the Gingerbread update."

I clicked OK....and nothing happened. I waited...nothing. So then I manually powered the phone off/on, hoping it just needed a manual reboot. Nope, nothing happened. The build, baseband, etc. are unchanged.

This is the second time this has happened in several days. Are you sure ROOT is not blocking the update? I haven't changed ROMs or anything; I simply followed whatever root procedure was in this forum.

Gingerbread for the Incredible will be released in stages beginning 9/1/11. Once available, it will be sent to your phone in order for you to make the upgrade.

I did run it through recovery but I am able to run PB31IMG files.
I did it just the way the unrevoked web site says to do it. Then i installed the custom Unrevoked Boot animation and all went fine. Is this what your talking about?

I have the 4.06.605.3. but I prefer the Dev who did this build more than the others. What I mean by his is his builds seem more stable when reading through the forums there are less problems with his builds. So That is why I chose that one. Don't get me wrong I'm not dissing any of the devs there all very good and I have used all of there rom's its just preference.

root will block the update, atleast it did for me when i was running root and 2.2 came out. it will notify you but nothing will happen

Also since your rooted just go to XDA and grab the update you want and use it. There are some over there that are already rooted and have most of the bloat taken off.

Hey everyone I got my incredible to update to gingerbread :cool:

If any want to know to do it without waiting to doing it OTA. I figured it out. But I must say thanks to this forum.

Edit: BTW: I did it just using my incredible.

I received notification that the update was available on my phone on friday morning. I started to install it, but it was hung up for over 30 minutes and I needed to leave so I hit cancel install. Now I can't get it back. I have tried settings/about phone/software update too many times to count and nothing. This is soooo frustrating. I tried VZW tech support and they referred me to HTC support. HTC said I just have to wait and eventually the update will get pushed to the phone again.

Ok heres what mine does (could be long bare with me)
When I boot into hboot, it checks for PB31IMG and then just goes on to the list of options if its not a system ruu update.
Then it will say install (only if it is the leaked 2.3 build). Ive tried 2.2 but it says main version is older, update fail.

Then since ive installed it, when I boot into recovery, It comes up with the system update screen (green arrows) and then it goes to the exclamation and yea.
Then when I try to open up the screen (volume up and power)
it says E: cant open /cache/recovery/command
So I cant install anything, it says invalid operation when trying to find a update.zip file.
I can only get it to work one time, AFTER i reinstall the 2.3 build. After than, hboot like "dies". So thats my problem and I said it would be long haha.

Here is a fix for the location nag screen on boot up.
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

Just put this on your SD card and use CWM to install the update.

This is for the boot sound removal fix. Same install as above.
