Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

After flashing M2 reboot to home screen let everything settle for a minute, then reboot into recovery and flash your mods and kernel if you'd like. fwiw I've had weird things happen when I went flash happy and tried to flash several things at once. It just never worked for me so I've always done it incrementally in steps. That's just me though!

lol @ the hide.

This is tricky as everyone has their own method to their madness. What I posted for BB's to do is what has worked for me for the past 2 years so I stick to it. I really don't think there is a 100% correct way.

Matter of fact everything I post regarding wiping is only from personal experience. So please don't take it as "the way it should be done" :p

Is that a game on PS3/XBOX or just a DVD. I used to watch dance party USA in college with zach and screech idk why I just thought of that.....

I usually do reboot first. I've had the same experience you have. I'm still new enough to check on these things first. :D

Its a Wii game. The console is barely used and it deserves to be.

Honestly so much has changed since the old days of roms, I believe that flashing an update over the existing rom is perfectly fine for the most part. The system automatically optimizes the apps and I've had no issues.. I recall on the OG it was wipe 4 times to avoid issues.

If you go from say Rootzboat to AOKP then yeah wipe.. there may be system apps in one that's not in another and that can cause issues. But from AOKP 15 > M2 i wouldn't flash

--- o yeah... I flash everything at one time as well :p

No need... just wipe cache.. if you have issues then go back and wipe all

- I've found that wiping system and not data causes login issues with google apps .. I've been only wiping cache for the last 3 updates. Its been running great and I've flashed themes and everything..

I'll stick to my madness. I haven't had any issues thus far with the Inc or the Gnex, but thanks ;)

chiming in over here to say that Codename Android is absolutely awesome. the softkey mods alone make this rom keeper for me. you can choose how many keys you want, what you want them to be(home, menu, back, search, recent), which order you want them in, and which color you want them to be all from the settings menu!

if that weren't enough, long press search to open voice commands is back as well! this is the first rom i have seen with that feature, and i have really been missing it. you also get built in options for % in battery, clock location, and a 3g/4g toggle in the notification bar. doesn't get much better!! :D

Honestly that rom is a kang of everything everyone else has done...

Roman - AOKP
Rootzboat
CM7
Gummynex

Those Are the only true Developers making roms for our phones and Developing and making/editing code... not compiling everyone's git changes and compiling into a rom.. I have very little respect for most of the so called developers who slap it together and paste a Donate button on the whole.......

----End Rant

O yeah, custom soft keys, toggles, clock location, and voice commands have been around for a VERY long time on AOKP...

Enjoy your rom ;-)

As long as we both keep it civil I would really like to hear how...

Look through his changes and credits.. there are only a handful of mods with his name on them, and most are mods someone else made and he changed something and called it his.

I'll give him credit, he did give credit where credit is due, and that's more than most do. He should paste up the donate links for each of the other developers who really made his rom, not his own..

^^
Play nice kids. :D

I plan to :)

Alright, SolidOrange(Green) has got me convinced with his one little post to switch to Codename...Question is, I am on Revolution HD right now...Normally on my X I would SBF back to stock to be purely stock, then root and rom. How would I do it now? I can't flash a rom over a rom right? How do I go about switching to another rom?

Fair enough. Haha, thanks.

EDIT: Actually, another question...Since the wipe wipes everything on the phone including storage, I am just backing up the backups to my computer, then reload them back on after wipe. Is this how everyone else is going about this? I basically backed all my apps up with titanium, backed up nova and obviously did a nandroid just in case...but after that, I just transferred everything to my computer and plan on transferring it back after I load the rom. Is this typically how it's done?

i have no problem as long as credit is given where it is due, which he did. i appreciate the fact that he, and others, pull their favorite features from different roms and compile them into one. sure, most of the mods existed somewhere else before, but you couldn't load one rom and get them all.

as far as the donate link goes, its not like he is forcing anyone to click it. if someone likes the features he has put together, why not give them a way to express it? charging for someone else's work is unacceptable, but accepting donations for the work he did do, as well as the support he provides is completely fine by me.

you won't need to transfer them to your computer at all. just backup your apps with titanium and make a nandroid with CWM, both still will be there after a wipe.

Flashing a rom will leave everything on your SD card

The wipe only affects the non - /data/data folder.. which means that everything BUT the SD card partitioned space gets wiped...
Really easy and no PC needed :)

- this is like the Mega thread... I got ninjad 2 times lol

Hmmm...Weird. When I flashed Rev HD I thought it did...It must have just been when I unlocked it wiped everything? And I just thought it was after wiping and flashing the rom? Who knows. Mestoopid

Unlock and root process wipes it completely. Its like a rebirth. After that you're golden as far as keeping things on the sd card. No stoopid.

I would like to report that I am terrible at Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party. TERRIBLE. Except for a couple of the faster songs. Go figure. *shrugs shoulders* The songs are horrible on it too though and that is irritating. I just didn't feel like going to the gym. But am hour of DDR seemed better than nothing. :D
Hahah, I feel like seeing you try DDR would be pretty hilarious. ;) :D
