I am new to this root thing. I have always had iphones, jailbroken of course. I had my phone rooted for a few days. I have downloaded 3 or 4 roms. Everytime I try to install a rom, it starts and then says install aborted. Any help would be appreciated. Also I have an i777, but since I rooted it says i9100. Why? Thanks for the help.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums lance5087! :)

I have requested that your post is moved to the Samsung Galaxy S2, AT&T, All Things Root forum for your model of phone as this is for the Galaxy S2, i9100, International version... which is not compatible with your model. Therein seems to lie your problem as you appear to have been trying to install i9100 ROM's on the i777 phone.

what's the error message with install aborted?

Often times it'll refer to a location to either read or write a file. If for whatever reason it can't find that directory it'll stop itself.

Try doing a full reset, dalvik wipe, fix permissions.

Also I assume you're using clockwork mod to install the roms and not something else? Programs like ROM manager work great on some devices, not so well on others(the I777 is a not so well).

Can you provide more info? What method did you use to root? What site did you get it from? Have you put on a kernel, or just tried to install ROMs? Are you using clockworkmod? What version of stock android did you come from?

My i777 also says i9000 when it boots up. From what I understand, they're almost identical and it's common for the software for the i9000 to be used for the i777 since it requires only a little modification.

it shows the i9000 after rooting or flashing anything in odin or whatever because it triggers a counter in the phone and that's why you have a big yellow triangle now with the i9000, Samsung or at&t forgot or were too lazy to make modify the message for our phone. The reason the rom flashing is being aborted could be many reasons so we would need more information but the most important is if the rom is specifically for your phone or not.
