Help Horrible Signal Everywhere

So this is more for my wife and her dad. I have Verizon and the Razr Maxx. They both have had the S2 since day one pretty much. And her dad has had nothing but problems with it since he got it. He had to have his phone worked on by Sprint technicians for 5 hours one time within the first 4 months of owning it. No matter where they go in this state they loose signal, have poor signal, it's just horrible.

I finally got tired of them saying stuff about it and the like so I got online and tried talking to Sprint about it and got only so far before being told to have them call because it is their account. So I told her about it and i told her dad. I got him to call. This is what they have done so far. She is on her second phone and he got sent to a store to have it worked on. Everything of course checked out with his phone. They sent them the AIRrave for the house. OK that keeps signal at the house but what about everywhere else? They say a tower is being worked on by the house but they have had this issue for over a year. They want the S3. Who doesn't?

Anyways, I don't think there is a fix for this other than them getting the S3. Has anyone else had this type of issue that has been going on for so long like theirs? I just don't think it's fair to be in a contact and be stuck with a phone that doesn't work the way it should, especially for so long and even more so when it's EVERYWHERE they go. I would love nothing more than for them to jump ship on my plan and in my opinion get better service and better support and a better phone. It's just frustrating for me and more so for them. Thanks for the help in advance.

Depending on Sprint's schedule for implementing LTE in the world, it may still be a while before they upgrade the towers in your area.

Even with that, the Epic 4G Touch is a wimax phone and would not benefit from the 4G LTE network Sprint is building, so the best that might happen with the upgraded towers is that your wife and her dad would have better 3G service.

They have what, a year left in their contract? I'm thinking they might be better off biting the bullet, terminating the contract early and switching to another service... Unless they are data hogs and need to take advantage of Sprint's unlimited data.

If you go into the Settings on her phone, there is an area labeled Data Usage that will give you an idea of how much data the phone is using. Average out her usage, assume it would only increase if she had more reliable signal, and decide how much it will cost you with another service provider.

I appreciate that advice. I will check her usage when she gets home. That is something she has said that is the reason they are both with Sprint because of the unlimited data. I did a price check to see if I put both of them on my plan with my mom already being on there and it bumped me to the 10gig a month plan on data. Not a bad jump, but also consider my mom is paying her part, and my wife's dad would pay his and her's. Then I would pay my own part. We end up paying less all the way around. I only have 4 gigs for myself at first but with adding my mom along with her smart phone and laptop I stayed the same and don't need to go up.

The biggest problem with them switching over to my service is that they will have to pay the early cancellation fee of like 150 per line and then pay 200-300 bucks PER phone to get the S3. That's a lot of money don't you think? And yes the ending outcome of better phone and way better service is there but I just don't think it is something that can be done right now because of financials. The only way out I can think of is if Sprint allows them out of the contract based on them not wanting to have the same phone because of crap service and that Sprint won't give them a better phone at no charge. That loop hole should exist.

Your wife or father-in-law could try calling Sprint and telling them point-blank that they are unhappy with the reception and that either Sprint fixes them up with better phones (maybe at a steep discount) or they walk. They would have to be sure to point out all the trouble-calls and attempted fixes that didn't work.

You can't purchase phones at a discount with your service and a two-year contract?
