Root [ROM] Angry Bean / CM 10.1 [build 08.08.13]

What? LOL that phone is magical!

Yeah it's pretty sweet, bought it from one of the members on AF. The only downside is the 3g only works on the stock ROM. So hence why I finally brom down and made MTDEV Virgin Mobile Re-VAMP :p I spent some time trying to figure out data connectivity but got sucked into developing on the HTC Evo. It's hard to say no to an almost perfect working Jelly Bean :D:D

∙ Major updates to UI - CyanogenMod

CyanogenMod Team added a ton of new features to the UI, the lock screen has been completely edited. There is an issue with the weather not working as it can't connect to yahoo weather on the lock screen be it wifi, 3g or 4g. You can turn it off in System Settings < Lockscreen < Clock Widget < Weather Panel and uncheck Display Weather. Also you may find other goodies as well. So far it looks darn nice! The only issue I am seeing is a possible problem with MMS. My MMS be it on Harmonia or any other ROM is pretty flaky, so you milage may very.

Enjoy :D

Flashed the 4/2 over the 3/25 and MMS seems to be good. Is there somewhere where I can see what stuff the CM updated? Like, in detail?

System Settings < About Phone < View Changelog - The problem is is this not always updated all the time.

https://github.com/CyanogenMod/ - This is a great place to see all the commits that CM Team makes. It takes awhile to read and see as they commit new changes daily so it's really hard to keep up. But everything is listed in here!

Gerrit Code Review - Here is a list of all upcoming updates. This area is for new patches people submit before going live into the source.

my only gripe with it is that it has to you use some resources .battery.. ram etc... I am very confident its minimal. But I still dont like it.. Its the first thing I did once it booted up.. I always disabled it

I wonder if I can remove it ....?

Yeah its no worse than google pulling data with the play store, or email, or google docs, or anything google :D I personally don't care myself, and I don't see the stats being an issue in terms of resources as they are not going to be pulling the data over and over again. If it bothers you too much, you can always look for an edited version on XDA, or build the source yourself and pull out the commit. I am sure with CM making this stance, other AOSP ROM's will be making the same changes as well.

[Disabled ADB] is normal of all Jelly Bean Roms. Check the OP For getting into the developer options. From there you can turn on ADB, add extra settings for reboot and what not.
Yeah, I enabled developer options right after my first Angry Bean install... the menu is visible and I've enabled Android debugging. When I connect to the computer via USB I get the little android face icon that also says "Android Debugging Enabled." In response to this post I tried enabling "ADB over network," in case you meant I needed to do that too, but whether that's on or off, ADB simply does not work unless I'm in recovery mode.

Can anyone else confirm their ADB-over-USB works?

Thanks g60 for this ROM!

Sorry, I'm still learning...

I believe I read somewhere that it is OK and safe to install multiple zip files if using the fastboot method. Does this mean it is OK to install this ROM and joe-blow's fix everything update at the same time (without the reboot inbetween)? If so, do I do the ROM first and then joe-blow's fix, or the other way around? I seem to understand the fastboot CLI method better than copying ZIP files to the SD card.

also, does fastboot erase cache -- format all partitions (other than SD card)?

Example:

fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip [ROM].zip
fastboot flash zip [joe-blow].zip
fastboot reboot

you need a updated ADB for 4.2.2...

I personally recommend doing joe_blows changes first, then installing the ROM. Not sure on your recovery but I highly recommend 4EXT which you can snag from the playstore it's like 3 bucks or something, and it will do everything for you nicely. When you boot into 4EXT you can choose Wipe | Format < Format all partitions (except sdcard). Once it's done formatting just install the ROM and then install gapps and you should be rocking.

∙ MMS is resolved for people with issues
∙ OPT-OUT has been re-enabled by CM

For some of you that tried 4/2 build CM would not let you OPT-OUT of sending statistics. They have since changed back after a few complaints. Also MMS is working perfectly for those that has issues on 4/2. I have attached a view of the new lock screen. Also as you can see the battery icon has also been changed. One other note is weather does not seem to be working on the lock screen. To remove it go to System Settings < Lockscreen < Clock Widget < Weather Panel and uncheck Display Weather

Enjoy :D
