Thoughts on the Notch

Couple months in and I don't see what the big deal is with Notches in general. I legitimately don't even see it any more.

Some apps still need to be updated to blend better, but other than that??

I am just realizing that my phone is so way more ahead of the game than previously though! The Essential was the first phone (to market) with the dreaded notch. It never bothered me, I got used to it right away, it doesn't interfere with anything and I've always giggled that other notches are way bigger. Now I learn that the new notch is a punch-hole, which is actually more close to what I've had all along. That silly Andy Rubin...

Huawei / Honor are releasing new phones with a teardrop, which when I read it without seeing a photo, made better sense. 'Pends how many sensors / lenses are left to cover I guess.

In a way, the left side is for notifications, the right side for statues like wifi, signal, battery, etc. If you get more than can fit, you get a "run off" dot, then have to pull down to see everything. It bugged me a bot at first, but totally used to it now.

I had the Pixel XL about a week or so after launch, I very quickly upgraded to the Pixel 2 XL when I cracked the screen on the original.

I tend to upgrade every year because I have good insurance. But I am now using a Note 9 because I simply HATE the look of that ugly-ass notch. But boy do I miss my Pixel. I'm tempted to sell the Note and go back to my Pixel 2 and (IMO the Pixel 2 performs way better than the Note) use that for another year and upgrade to the inevitable Pixel 4 XL without a notch.

I barely notice the notch but when I do it doesn't really bother me. I love the phone regardless though.

The notch on the LG v20 is called "the second SCREEN". Not been an issue. Notches are.

Nope doesn't bother me. It actually makes the phone look unique and distinctive.

I rather like it. But I do like the Galaxy S10 approach as well.

The "notch" sucks, end of story. If i wanted an iPhone, i would have gotten one. o_O

not noticing it.. does not make it good design...
still something that needs to be ignored.

i prefer.. something with no notch .. hole punch.
something that is blocking part of the view.
slim chin and fore-head - phone are OK with me!

i can live with a missing pinky finger. after a time .. i dont even notice it.
but in reality.. i am NOT 100% whole.
and it can affect things. ie.. golf swing.. bat swing.. cant do the "i Love You" sign.

None of those hardly are the same thing, LOL. The notch will not mess with my golf swing (even if I had a swing).

Hole punch is odd, but I think I could like it as well. And I prefer the notch over bezels, so there';s that. But hey, to each their own.
