I've been hacked?

Three texts went out to my emergency contacts saying "I have an emergency. Help me."
I did not send them. The only conclusion I can come up with is that I got hacked. Now what?
if somebody hacked your phone, why would they send text messages? if i hacked your phone i would try and see if i can get any personal info on you or your contacts. why would i tip you off like that?

just saying.

if you feel like you have been hacked then i would factory reset your phone, change your google acct info as well as any other acct info like your bank, facebook and so forth.

You need to check your phone settings to find out how to disable this feature. Sometimes these features are set to send automatically when you say.. press the power button 3 times in quick succession or hold the volume button down while the phone is locked.

So it is very possible that you have activated these texts yourself. Sorry I cannot be specific as I am not familiar with your handset.

Aye, nobody needs to hack your phone to spoof your number when sending texts. They would need to know your contacts - there are various ways those could leak, but I'd check the security of your Google account anyway, probably change password too (you do have 2-factor authentication on, right? If not you need to do that right now).
