A friend asked me to scout for a 10" Samsung tablet on Black Friday. She does not really know which one to buy and I know little about those devices. I have only a Nexus 7.
Who can recommend one which is best price/performance. She has a 2 year old 7" now and uses it mainly to play these games...
I was trying to get Android to run in VMware Player on a Windows 7 host system. I got pretty far. It was working after initial setup - I even had an internet connection. Then I powered the vitual machine off because I could not figure out how to do it otherwise.
But then I could not get it...
On another forum we recently had a discussion about the future of the PC in light of the fast growth of the tablet market. The question was whether there are people that rely solely on their tablet for their needs and can do without a PC.
I would be interested to know whether any members here...
I was always wondering why people would install a different ROM. What is the main purpose of changing the ROM. And what is the chance you brick the N7 if you do.
I found this interesting article on how to control data usage to avoid overage charges.

In the US, I have a navigation program where you can download the maps by state. That makes you independent of the WiFi during the trip.
I am looking for such a program for Europe where I can download maps for at least Germany and France. Any suggestions.
I was considering to buy a MiFi to connect my N7 to 3G. But there you only have a limited bandwdith. I would not want to eat my bandwidth with automatic updates. How can I stop those.
And also, do phone calls via VoIP (GrooveIP) count against the bandwidth and how much.
Someone was trying to tell me that you have to unroot the device for major updates. He was citing going from 2.x to 4.x. Does anybody know whether that is true or false. Thanks.
The app Superclean is a virus. Do NOT install it. Unfortunately I have the detailed report only in German: [URL="http://www.heise.de/open/meldung/Neue-Android-App-will-mithoeren-1796828.html"]Neue Android-App will mith
I have been trying to stream .mp4 videos from a USB stick and from a USB attached SSD. It plays - kind of. But it is not fluent and crackles all the way after it started correctly for a few seconds.
Especially the SSD I expected to work because that is a really fast device with access times of...
Is it possible to associate a certain filetype to a specific program. E.g. associate .gif with a browser or .png with a specific picture viewer.
Alternatively I could not find how to 'Open with" a file. When you long press the file, you do not get this option and I have found no other way either.
What would be suitable games for a 12 year old girl.
I want to get my granddaughter a 7" tablet that is rooted and Google Playstore enabled. I was wondering what games I could put on there which are appropriate for her age. I play no games at all and am therefore a bit at a loss.
I have mounted a USB stick with Stick Mount but cannot find the sda1. I have sda2 thru sda12, but no 1 (one) in ES File Explorer. Any tips where that could be hiding.
I plan to buy a second (cheap) rooted and Playstore enabled tablet for a kid. I want to set it up for the kid with a few games - downloading the apps from the PC.
I was wondering how that would work with the Playstore since now it always defaults to my Nexus 7. If I have 2 tablets, can I then...
I cannot pair my Tao Tronics mic model TT-BH01. It never shows up in the paired devices. With my bluetooth keyboard I have no problems. It shows up.
Does anybody have an idea how to troubleshoot that?
PS: Just saw that there is a typo in the title - should be 'pairing', sorry.
Addition...
The other day I bought a Curtis Klu for $59 as a present for a friend. A really nice little tablet. It had a micro SD card reader, a seperate 3.5mm charging port, a seperate micro USB port and a real button that you could easily handle for power on/off.
I really don't understand why they did...
What are your must have programs. My top 3 are:
+ GrooveIP - for free phone calls within the US and from Europe to the US
+ Maps - as navigation system and for planning trips
+ Watch TV - to watch the old TV shows and the Cartoons
Would be interesting to see which three ones you rate tops.
Has anybody ever used a bluetooth earphone with mic on a N7. I was wondering whether that works. I would use it mainly for calls via VoIP.
I am looking at this model.
