    This right here is what I would prefer but I guess I will just have to live with it. The new lockscreen is harder to unlock for me with the natural movement of my thumb when using it one handed.

    Why is it that we have a shadowed 3G or 4G in the notification beside the signal bars at all times even on Wi-Fi?

    Probably to indicate which mobile network you're in when you turn wifi off.

    Interesting. That's something I've not noticed being different. Getting to widgets, yes, but the unlocking seems the same to me.

    Ok, I'm running a custom ROM, but I don't think that aspect is different from stock.

    Has anyone noticed the device get hot faster and even on Wi-Fi or is it just Verizon's variant. As far as flash support the Verizon One never supported flash.

    If you do a search this is happening on the Nexus devices as well after kitkat. Happens to me all the time now. An apn change seems to help some but I am not that tech savy so I will have to wait for an update /fix.

    Same here. It's frustrating

    I finally fixed my battery problem, the phone needed a wipe clean partition done to it. Glad it's fixed now.

    I'm not sure if this is kitkat related but I no longer have the ability to share my pictures via HTC share. Anyone else having this problem? When I go into "accounts" and select my HTC account is says that sync is off and I have no way to turn it on. Has HTC stripped down this great service or has something changed of which I'm unaware?

    Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    Here's a follow up in case anyone else has the same problem. HTC first had me wipe the cache partition but that didn't work. But we then did a simple "clear data" under applications and that fixed it. I'm on Verizon and suspect the problem arose after the KitKat update.

    So I know I have to have pin lock due to work requirements. But ever since kitkat, I now also have to swipe up to unlock. Then it takes me to my pin unlock screen.

    I have my "lock phone after" set to the highest 30 minutes. In the past if within that 30 minutes, all i need to do it hit power button and I could use my phone.

    Now I have to slide up. I've tried "bypass lock screen on wakt", but that doesn't do anything. How can I eliminate the slide up so I don't have to do double to unlock phone?

    The short answer is you cannot. HTC removed the option to not have a lockscreen with KitKat.

    According to HTC it is normal for "Account Sync" to be off. To clear data do the following:

    1. Settings to "App Manager";
    2. Right scroll to get to "All";
    3. Scroll down to HTC Share;
    4. Click "clear data".

    Sadly, the only option is a custom ROM, to the best of my knowledge
  15. Oh man, I was using Foxfi to hotspot my Verizon HTC One at home to stream Netflix and play online on my Xbox without having to pay ridiculous Brighthouse bills. I guess I'm dead in the water now... Anyone have any work arounds? Foxfi was the only app that I could find that works for Verizon without paying for the mobile hotspot feature, which would also make me lose my unlimited data plan.

    Also, my Google Calendar gives an error everytime I try to update/sync it since updating. "Unfortunately, Google Calendar Sync has stopped." Anyone know how to fix that?

    Hi everyone, got Kit Kat 4.4 for my Verizon HTC One last week and every since I upgraded I get a message every so often that Cloud has stopped.

    Has anyone else had this problem? can you give me some suggestions on what I can do to correct this problem.

    Thank you BRAINZ2013 for the welcome, it's the Verizon Cloud app that used to be Backup Assistant Plus or something like that. No, I didn't do a factory reset after the update...was I suppose to? Haven't had HTC One long so I'm learning about the phone as I go along so bear with me. Any help from you or anyone else in the forum would be great.

    Why is it that Verizon's variant doesn't have the power saver mode and it makes no start up noise. It's very silent upon start up/booting. No power saver, why the hell not. Can someone decipher that for me?

    On a update that pushes the android os up from jb to kit kat will need a factory update . this update will clear all the old jb data which isn't needed no more since you have a new os . old and new data Dont connect.

    Kit Kat on my HTC One Sprint SUCKS!!! It has messed up my messages. I can NOT use default messaging app for SMS or MMS and Google Hangouts SUCKS. I am not 18 years old. The phone worked fine, now Kit Kat doesn't let the messaging get to my google voice number. Such crap.

    If I had known this...I would NOT have updated it. If it ain't broke....

    Now I am stuck with buggy nonsense. Cmon Sprint! FIX THIS!!!

    If I do a factory reset, it doesn't guarantee a fix, and I will have to reload everything. Plex media server won't work unless I make changes to the sprint proxy servers.....what a joke.

    Sprint + HTC ONE + KIT KAT = CRAP!!!

    Have you looked in Settings > Wireless & Networks > More for the "default message app" setting. This is new in 4.4, so wonder whether setting that to the Messages app rather than Hangouts will fix it (i.e. whether Sprint have "helpfully" set this to Hangouts)?
