Bluetooth would pair but connect

I returned my Droid because although it would pair with my VW (2010), I would have problems with it connecting. One time it would, the next it wouldn't. Would I have the same problem regardless of which android phone I buy? I am considering trying a EVO, Incredible or the X. My husband says I will have the same problem with any of them. I never have any trouble with our blackberry's working with it, but I really want to upgrade to a Droid.

I'm no expert, but I wonder if the problem could be with discovery of one or both devices. I notice that in Settings there's a 30-second automatic timeout on discoverability with my Dinc. I could be all wrong though.

Nobody has any idea's on this? Btw, I have decided to stick with Verizon, so either the Incredible or the Droid X.
