I just got my droid and so far I'm loving it but encountered a couple of issues. I immediately went to download chompsms but it is nowhere to be found in the android market. I tried to install it from the web browser but it gives me an error message "There is a problem parsing the package".

So I installed handcent sms and it seems fine except when I go to compose a new message there are no contacts in the contact list even though I have all my contacts from my gmail account. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    **BUMP**

I'm having the same problem. New Droid phone - no contacts. Strangely enough, my wife is not having the same problem but I can't tell any difference between our phone settings.

I had the same problem with Handcent SMS. What i did was just reboot the phone and all the contacts appeared.
    Really want CompSMS though.

I had to use the stock mms app to send a pic. Other than that Handcent is great

Handscent works great for me, little gaudy but hey, no biggie. Sends MMS just fine for me as well. Are you tapping on the text box, then tapping "attach" then tap picture?

I took a picture to show you guys, but for some reason I cant upload it, I tried with Chrome and IE, I click the manage attachments but nothing happens. Is there a way we could maybe go over our settings for it, kind of compare and see if we can figure this out.

i'm assuming the only setting that has to do with that picture is the one that says "display picture"... and it does not display the correct image like message does... :-(

I figured out the picture issue. All of my contact pictures were the ones that transferred in with the facebook contacts. Those pictures will not show in handcent. You have to have to pictures associated with the contact with a picture that is actually in your phone files. I hope that made sense.

So whats the go, we have a android standard txt app that comes with phone that cannot send mulptiple emails, you spend to much time downloading crap apps that half work. OPen source has its place but. I simply want a SMS app that can send bulk txt that simple works.

Hancent sms is a crap app. I have found an app that actually does do batch emails.

Another thing I cannot delete my account from their crap website.

Alright, why the hell was this thread revived?
All I see are comments about batch emails through an app that's designed to send texts?
Handcent is amazingly customizable and has proved fail proof since I've installed it. In addition, it's a FREE app that is far more popular and well developed than most paid apps. If you want to bitch about something that's free, move elsewhere.
