Help Desire power usage screen

I just got my HTC Desire last week and am enjoying it very much. I have heard horror stories about the battery and luckily haven't had any problems with it yet. I have been keeping an eye on the battery use screen in the settings>about phone>battery area. The first day I had about 10 things on the list, now I only have three: Android system 96%, Cell Standby 2%, and Phone idle 2%. What did I do? Why is android system acting as a catch all? I would like to be able to see what I am using too much, or what is sucking all my battery. Any help would be great.

Try using "Spare parts" from the market.
