My first phone was an Optimus V, using the Virgin Mobile (Sprint mostly) network. I needed AT&T coverage where I am now so I Signed up for Straight Talk. Decided to get an Optimus T (P509) since I am familiar with the phone.
The phone is working fine except I can't get 3G service, I am stuck on Edge. I have enabled data roaming and not locked into 2G networks. Even though I have roaming enabled, the phone status says it is not roaming. This maybe is because my phone is unlocked?
I am not on a T-Mobile network, nor am I near any one to try. I use AT&T's network through Straight Talk and my APN settings are fine.
My question, is this problem a phone issue or an OS issue? If I install a modded OS like CyanogenMod will I be able to use 3G. Right now I am running the stock T-mobile OS.
