I don't know what you mean by 'when the machine is off'.

If it is off, then it is inactive and cannot receive files.

Unless you mean to upload the files somewhere and have it set up to download to the computer as soon as it is turned on?

I do not have an adaptor anymore.. Sounding dumb to myself even, I meant like by plugging it in, and saving your files lol.....
