Intro to the Gzone Forum and a question

Good evening,
My name is Bill and I have a GZone C771 Commando and am generally satisfied but we are considering changing providers and maybe I should upgrade to the 811. I know Casio no longer builds or supports these phones.

I use the phone mostly for voice and text and occasionally a video and even more rare as a hotspot.
The compass is kind of neat, the thermometer is too slow, FitBit has taken over as a step counter, can't figure out the star chart and I can see where the sun and moon are. Probably could use a new battery soon.

The phone's ability to bounce is phenomenal!

If I keep the current phone, probably will delete a lot of the apps that came with it, I don't use them.

Whatcha think? Find a cheap 811 on Amazon or keep the current Commando?

Thanks,

Bill

I am in in almost the same situation as you Bull. I only really use my 4g for just music, texting, phone calls callendar, you know, basic stuff that the old commando can still do.
I was in the exact same position as you and decided to upgrade to the "new and exiting commando 4g"
In the end, I wish I hadn't. I don't use and of the features that the 4g version has over the 3g, and find the battery to have even less capacity than the 3g version.
IMO, you are making a wise choice.

P.S. The forms are very inactive here, so don't be surprised if you get only some views and no one replies to it. Personally, I make it an effort to view and reply to every question on the 3g and 4g forms, but being in college now has not helped that. Oh well.
Best of luck with your phone!

I was just going to suggest the same thing. I'm with Strait Talk and currently in dire straits. But if, I mean when things improve I'd really look hard at a used Kyocera. I'll give you a few review links. My only concern is it has an internal battery, but other wise it appears to stack up well against the GZ1 LTE. Wilster could address the battery issue, I haven't a clue. But I like the phone. Also, I've heard the gz LTE isn't quite as rugged as the c771, again Wilster has used both, I haven't. Just hearsay.
Here's the links and good luck!

Bill,
You're welcome. Hope the info's helpful!
Honestly I'm very happy with the gz1 c771 phone minus the storage issue and the apparent difficulty to root. No bells and whistles but as PE teacher it's indestructible. A retired cop gave it to me over two years ago. It's kinda' unfair that google play services has grown so much that the memory is almost full.
I'm sure if I had a gz1LTE or a Kyocera I wouldn't be bitching though:) Still we shouldn't be forced to give up something if it still works.
Heck, I'd still use Windows XP if I could:)

Agree about Windows XP.
I want to thank you guys for your responses, they helped with my decision.
Until things change (like a job!) I'm going to keep the current Commando, why spend money on something that meets my needs.
I will be asking some more questions but I'll start a new discussion for them.
Thank you once again!

Bill
