Pop-Ups on Android Forums Lately

I'm getting all sorts of junk from this forum. And I do KNOW that it is this forum; I just finished building another clean system and androidforums was the ONLY thing I looked at! Lol.
I get this Video Cop adware virus that's just impossible to extract, along with a constant additional browser window to wordslife opening when clicking new page links here.
I've never seen such aggressive adware and browser hijacking from anything other than porn sites that have decimated people's browsers.
This is on Opera and IE 7.

Do you have the Wondows 7 security center configured? Please don't take that as a dumb question, but moving from Vista to 7 completely eliminated adware trojans and other junk that used to find its way into my system from common places such as break.com and even foxnews.com news videos.

I've seen nothing from this site at all in the 8 months I've been coming here daily.

+1 on the windows 7 comment. I use FF w/ ad block plus and never have seen any ads at all. I realize that is not the answer for everyone and if too many people did it it would affect revenue but i simply can't stand the adds.

Great! Twice today I've gotten the talking ad saying, "Congratulations! You've won!". Really, REALLY annoying.

I got that one late late last night... it woke my wife up.

I'll upload a screenshot later on (maybe tonight, maybe not).

HATE that, always used to get the "You've won a free nintendo wii" one.(not on here) F*cking loud as hell.
Is the reason i run ad block plus 24/7 now

Got it again just now.

I gotta tell the owners here, these types of intrusive ads really cheapen the whole look and feel of this site. I also got the Duracell one again last night.

The intrusive, screen filling or pop-under or pop-out ads are horrendous, almost vandalism to the site.

But the banner ads up there, or on the left or right at some sites, are a non-issue to me; I don't care what they say or promise or if they're flashing or jumping around or whatever, they never receive a click from me.

But those that take over the screen seem to be a bit over the top as far as using methods to require us to click on them to get rid of the intrusion... rather insidious, in my opinion.

( Have seen it, thanks! :) )

Any response to the anger displayed in this thread?

I understand you guys need to make some money, but when I brought up the forum this morning I got an Xfinity ad that locked up my browser window until it was done displaying.

If these type of ads continue, I guarantee I will never visit this site again. And I strongly suspect many others will make the same choice. There ARE other Android forums in which we can exchange information.

If these ads aren't gone by the end of the week, my bookmark to this site will be.

I've passed these along to the man that handles all the ads, and owns the website. A couple of times.

I can't force him to change them. Do know though - he spends an awful lot of time on the phone with our ad network discussing these things, and having intrusive ads removed.

There are ad-blocking alternatives you can try, or if you insist on leaving the site - thanks for giving us a shot!
