Help Recovery mode?

My phone is stuck in a weird error. Says basically that the update didn't install correctly. Kies3 won't recognize it. It says that the drivers have been installed and are ready to use but I guess I'm supposed to run some kind of verizon recovery that you see when you first hook up to your PC but of course it doesn't come up for me now. Now what do I do?

So what samsung is it?
What stage are you at now:
Will it boot?
Will it boot into recovery mode (usually Power, Home and Volume UP)?
Will it boot into download mode (usually Power, Home and Volume DOWN)?

Note 3. It powers on with a batt pull. Odin mode in red at the top of the screen with some other stuff under it. A yellow triangle and under it it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue: please use software repair assistant and try again.

Samsung Kies 3 has an option to help you recover from firmware upgrade problems. I see it there but have never used it myself.

None of that worked so I just traded it in
