    Hello all,
Today my sony ericsson xperia has been stolen...
Now my question is, can they trace my phone with a special chip or with the simcard?

When you say 'they' do you mean the carrier or the police? My carrier (Rogers) does not do tracking of lost phone when I lost my phone and asked.

Frank, did you download a tracking app on your phone? One thing I like about Android is that there are a lot of apps that allows you to track and monitor your phone, like Where's my Droid and Lookout. Lookout was the first app that I downloaded when I got my Nexus because it also backup all of my informations.

Sorry to hear about your phone Frankk, but thanks Roze for putting me onto Lookout. It's fantastic and simple.

Found the location of my phone, down to my office, indoors.

    Cheers

that is terrible. even if there is a chip in the SIM, you can rest assure they will not be using your SIM unless they are really dumb.

The carrier can lock the IMEI so the thief won't be able to use the phone at least. :)
