It's 512 man look at the specs above it's a scan from the Incredible user's manual. The Evo may come wth 1GB of ROM that would be sweet but definitely not 8GB.

Via Engadget

Of course, it's a potent combination that's been put together here -- an HTC-made, Verizon-locked device sporting a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 8GB of internal storage, 748MB of ROM, a microSD slot (with support for up to 32GB cards), an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and autofocus, 480 x 800 AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, and most importantly, Android 2.1 with HTC's Sense UI on-board.

Just a thought about whether to buy at best buy or sprint. If you buy at Sprint you will have your contacts transferred right there and also the Sprint Rep will show you how to use the phone. The other thing that the rep can do is put an employee discount on your account for being an employee of many companies. Best Buy usually doesn't know how to do this. This is very important when setting up a new account as this discount will apply right away and sometimes waive the activation fee also.

You can scan/fax a copy of your paystub or ID card to Sprint and get the discount anyway. I currently get a 25% off the bill and 15% off phones and accessories deal from my employer. Anything BestBuy can't do Sprint CS can as far as billing and discounts.

Wow guys.

Ready to rip each other apart that quick huh.

Jackson made one slip. One tiny slip and you guys are on him like rabid dogs.

What he meant to say was internal storage.

It will have 512 of rom and 1gb of ram. <edit>hell I even screwed up rom/ram.

It is kind of sad how you guys have to show your technological prowess by statements like "please don't throw around words you do not understand"

It is petty and childish.

AS for the 8gb of rom thing.

That is funny. Because could anyone list the type of roms there are?

Anyone, buller, buller, buller....

There are 4 types of rom (read only memory).

there are rom, prom, eprom, and eeprom.

OH MY GOD.

EEPROM (Electrically erasable programmable read-only memory)is flash memory.

So the memory would be rom, just eeprom.

No it's technically impossible for a phone to have 8GB of ROM here is a quick copy/paste definition of what ROM is:

It will more than likely come with an 8GB Micro SDHC card and the phone will have a SD Card reader built in. Phone itself may have 512MB or 1GB of ROM (which by today's standards is considered really nice) but surely not 8GB.

Edit: I said impossible not impossible but very improbable since you'd never really use even 1/3 or less of that space and the cost of the phone would shoot sky high.
Okay, LatinP. I changed the specs. Do you think it's right now, or does it still need work?

You use your contacts through Google/GMail anyways, so this is pretty pointless IMO.

Anyway not here to have a pissing match with you just wanted to point out the ROM thing because too many users as it is confuse the RAM with ROM and vise versa not to mention internal storage which is something completely different.

I also want to point out that I would have left it at that if he didn't come around as a know it all:

actually no, the incredible has 8gb of ROM so its more than possible, its reality

Just because you have "inside information" doesn't mean everything you speak should be written in the bible, if your going to call me out at least know what the hell you're arguing about.

/end rant back to whatever I was doing.

I'm trying to set all of this straight in my head.

ROM doesn't = Internal storage, correct?

Right now, the specs for the EVO are potentially as such:

1GB ROM
512MB RAM
8GB (or possibly more) of Internal storage
8GB microSD card storage (card included), upgradable to 32GB

Is that all correct? So that means that the EVO will have anywhere from 16-40GB (possibly more if the internal storage is increased from the Incredible) of total storage if you were to combine the storage card and internal memory? Man, that's a WOW factor if I've ever seen one. I don't even think my Dell PC at home (quite a few years old) has that much!
