I don't know how you people can do gyms or running. I have to say those are probably the most boring ways to exercise.

    I play sports to exercise.

I don't live in a neighborhood conducive to outdoor exercise and I hate having to drive somewhere like the gym to exercise (I work 3rd shift and never feel like going).

My exercise routine is probably abhorrent compared to most of you - I have an exercise bike set up in my living room. Every morning after work I pedal away on it for 45 minutes or so while watching some Netflix or Hulu Plus. :) Two or three times a week I try to sneak in another 20 minutes or so in the evenings.

I've only been doing this for a little bit, but I'm already starting to slim back down - hopefully my progress sticks! :D

45 minutes on a bike every day sounds pretty good, to me. If you keep that up, as you say, you'll see your body change.. especially if you're not consuming too much in the way of fatty foods, etc.

    Way to go. [IMG]

I am a competitive powerlifter so my workouts are focused on training to lift the heaviest weights I'm capable of lifting at meets. As a result, I don't focus much at all on fitness or bodybuilding; just straight-ahead strength training. With that said, I compete in the 198lb class so at 5'10", I am certainly not your average "big & sloppy" powerlifter that may come to mind first, for most people.

Not conventional, I know, but this is what I do for sport because it's what I love.

Ehh, not really. You need to run (for cardio build-up) to play a majority of sports. You also need the gym to build muscle endurance and you can learn stretching techniques to assist your body in it's movements and to help prevent injury.

(I also have played baseball since I was 5 yrs old all the way up to my senior year of college when I tore my AC joint in my pitching shoulder. Without the gym, I most likely would have never made it that far)

I also thought that lifting weights and running would be boring, but I was surprised to discover that I like it! Pushing your limits and seeing progress is great. ;)

If you do it right you can burn more calories than you'd imagine. ;)

I have a treadmill that I run on just about every night while I watch the news. Plus we (whole family) uses the Wii Fit and Active which really does a great job.

I play sports and jog. Do a lot of self resistance workouts at home cause I am not a big fan of the gym.

And as OfTheDamned said... sex actually burns quite a bit of calories if your doing it right. lol

Are there girls working out in spandex or steam rooms on the soccer field?

    Didn't think so! ;)

That's true. It depends on how many thrusts per minute you average.

I'm a street jogger and I usually jog in the spring and summer. I jog everyday for 4km or every other day for 8km. I did my first quater marathon this year, which will be an annual thing. I do stretch and ab work for 20 minutes each day before I jog.

Now that it's getting cold, I'm going to try to replace jogging with weights. I'm not a big fan of gyms but I do like to do work out classes. For the fall and winter, I'll be trying out Bikram yoga and pole dancing. Other sport exercise I like but have not done in ages is rock climbing and Muay Thai kick boxing.

Favourite exercise is jogging...after I build up my endurance. It's cheap and I don't have to work by someone else's schedule.

I lift 6 times a week, heavy weights. Soccer on Tuesday and run on Saturday. I use to run every day for 3-6 miles a day. I was so skinny like 138, now I'm 165 trying to get to 175-180, then cutting to a single digit BF% Yea I kind of take working out serious.

Over the summer I started getting really into cycle/spin classes @ my gym. I go 4 days a week, & possibly 5 starting in October because my favorite instructor is going to be adding a class. I'm also contemplating doing some personal training sessions w/ her. She gave me a free session a few weeks ago & she's very good @ what she does. And, not to mention hawt.

I also walk on the treadmill & do some weight machines.

Indeed it is, I hope she will take the opportunity to go there with her friend. I have heard its super fun training with pole. While I also thing the hot yoga also will suit her. (Basically, she can finally use her yogapants to yoga! :p)

I think everyone should do pole dancing.

As for me I don't like to "work out". To me it's wasted energy. My side job is side jobs, hehehe. I do additions, decks, basements etc. My favorite workout is drywall. It's fast paced with weights and lots of stabilizing movements.

But I guess in traditional terms....I love an evening walk with my wife and dog around the lake.

    +1

Great post.. great attitude about those things. ;)

I can vouch for the work out one gets in construction jobs. Especially done every single day for years on end (those Summers!). As a former carpenter.. I remember (and it was only for three and a half years as things picked up in my regular trade of Broadcast Engineering and I went back).
