Accessories for the HTC Droid Eris

Upvote 0
I had to rediscover an old accessory I haven't had to use in a while. Now that I have this phone, this has to be the most important for my needs. Nothing worse than being stuck in traffic with a low battery.
Dual USB car charger(1500mA) with red led indicator for iPhone/Cell phone/PDA/MP3/MP4 I also have a cheapo USB > mini USB data cable that I just leave in my car.

I bought a similar off the shelf dual usb charger. It's invaluable! Plus it charges my ipod or whatever else I have at the time.

I found the same case but for a little cheaper, already bought the smoke and they have some new ones now. Just picked up a blue.

eBay Store ? Paw Avenue: Search results for Crystal Skin Gel Case HTC Droid Eris.

ok so i just recieved my "skin gel case" and I am not sure if i want to open it. the problem is, i ordered it from the other ebay store "naked cellphones" and as i look at it right now, it doesn't really look "smoked" or "black" as the pictures from the Paw Avenue store seem. in fact, it looks completely CLEAR which is not what I ordered. I just sent them an email and im dissapointed because i've been waiting to try this.. could someone here (especially if they ordered one and have one) check to see if this case is the same as the one in the above link? maybe its just the appearance inside the box, and maybe it'll look much darker over the phone since the phone is dark. i just want to make sure it is not clear.

Here is the ebay# of what I got...
#300367353777

if you could compare that ebay# (naked cellphones) to the above link (Paw Ave) and see if they are the same or different in smoked black that would be great. also, did anyone elses look clear when they first recieved theirs in the box? (its made by "Luxmo" -- is this the same brand Paw Ave sells?)

Thanks to anyone who can help me here :(

Thats the same case, It will look darker since the Eris is naturally dark. The Sku should read SM at the end or somewhere if its Smoke and CL if you received Clear. I would check the Sku to make sure you didnt receive the Clear one.

wow, this is exactly what i was lookin for in terms of feel / protection / non-bulk / no-lint / looks -- its almost identical to the "girl" ones they sell on verizon's website, this is highly recommended!

i love how u can see the "google" logo on the back also, looks so slick and adds a new shine to the phone. i love it.

I think i might go back and order a blue one now :x

Thanks everyone for input!

is it also important to keep the trackball covered? these cases only protect the back of device? appears to me if keeping the device in pocket on regular basis, the trackball will fill with lint and dirt? my years of carrying a blackberry w trackball taught me this problem.

the trackball i never worried about, i had a blackberry bold for quite a long time and also a blackberry tour and the only problem i had was the trackball being 'worn out' due to heavy usage, never a lint problem here. plus, i heard certain cases that do go too close to the trackball are leaving marks on the white ball itself...

as for protecting only the back, it also protects the sides and if u were to drop it on it's face, it would hit the rubber bumpers first on the cover (but theres no guarentee there wont be a rock or something on the ground).. overall i think these silicone cases are solid :)

This case is amazing, congrats on the pick up. What I did to semi protect the trackball area is buying a full body skin (phantom skinz), it covers the screen and there is a piece that covers the trackball area as well. Most people are turned away from this type of skin that requires water, but honestly if you are careful with the install and let the excess water drip off b4 applying it to the phone itself, you will be fine (take your time when doing this). The end result is a fully protected phone that looks great. If you are like me and are kind of a klutz, this is deff. the way togo. (accidents do happen)

Thinking about ordering the blue or clear from paw aven. since i love the smoked so much -- anyone have either of these and could tell me how they look? the clear seems to give off a more light colored look, and the blue im weary of because it might look too girly?

if u have either of these let me know

also, if anyone sees a red or white one of these PLEASE tell me.

Thanks you!

I'm really interested in this holster/cover combo from Verizon. Some of you have bought this so I could use your input.

How is this case working out for you guys? How does it move into the holster? I mean, do you slide it down from the top area? Do you find it easy to get out of the holster?

Usually, I like to keep my phone in my left front pocket, but sometimes I do need a clip, such as when I'm wearing shorts. Would this feel bulky if I put it in my pocket with just the skin, minus the holster? Thanks.

I purchased this when I purchased my phone. One annoyance is that my shirt or jacket can get stuck when placing the phone back in the holster. Other then that it works just fine. Just make sure it locks in when you place it. I can see someone including myself thinking it is securely placed when it actually isn't.

This gets a "10" IMO. I've had dozens of phones with lots of cases over the years but nothing comes close to this one. This one is ingenious and works easily, protecting the phone, making it easier to hold and definitely has the look and style befitting a phone like the Eris. With the outside protector snapped into place (semi-permanently attached to the phone itself), it easily slides into the holster case (screen side on the inside) from either the top or bottom of phone..."clicks" into place securely and very easily comes right out to use. No worries about banging the phone on something hard while wearing it because the high impact plastic is tough as nails. The phone looks great with it attached and it adds no bulk...if you moan and whine a bit at the Verizon store you should be able to get the online discount at the store.

Awesome...thanks for your help! I'll definitely check this out in stores later. I really like how it's a 2-in-1 solution.

I did see that it's for sale on ebay for less, but I think I get a 25% discount for accessories and I really want to get this before Christmas, so I'll probably just pick this up at the VZW store.

Thanks again, everyone.

I tried both the silicone rubber/gel skin from Verizon as well as their "hard" leather skin, but returned both. The silicone rubber/gel had a horizontal piece near the top of the screen that made it difficult to pull down the notification bar. It has the same difficulty on the far left/right edges of the screen when playing a bubble breaker game or scrolling in the contacts app. While I liked the hard leather skin better, it had the same issue with the left/right edges - it was hard to accurately press buttons or sliders that are located on the extreme edge of the screen.

Has anyone else had this same usability issue?

The only thing I can think of now is to use a sticker-like vinyl skin. It will protect from most scratches, but not really provide any cushion protection...

im not sure if your referring to what i have, but its a combo between hard/soft case that is very glossy and slick looking. makes your phone look very smooth :) i dont believe its what your talking about because there is NOTHING obstructing you from the notification bar nor anything else on the screen nor does it even come close to the actual screen on the sides, it just barely touches the "black" void part. in fact, it is much better than the rubber silicone cases imo.
check it out @ Paw Ave. on ebay

Going to have to 2nd those Hard gel cases. Trying to get them for my family but for other phones. Some have Qwerty keyboards so I'm not sure how that would work. But the case does look slick and I don't have any complaints about it yet besides maybe the volume control being slightly harder to press, but its still not that bad.

FYI,

When you get a notification, rather than swipe the Notification Bar, click Menu > Notifications; your notification will be there. You can then click it and it will take you to whatever it is (download, SMS message, etc.)

I find it a lot easier, especially because I have the VZ case and screen protector.
