Help o2 not supporting 2.3 in branded phones?

Not sure if the man in the 02 shop was right, but I asked him why my girlfriends unbranded Xperia 10 had the 2.3 update from the Sony update site and my branded one didnt.

He was told me that 02 are not supporting 2.3 in branded Xperia 10's, so I would have to stay with 2.1.

I have spoken to 02 customer services and Sony, neither of them can confirm that 02 will be getting the 2.3 update, anyone got any ideas whats going on?

If the man in the shop is correct how do I unbrand the phone? I am not technically minded so it would have to be simple!

Many thanks

the update is already out for o2, i updated a phone to 2.3 last week and it was available

I had a message telling me an update was available (over a week ago) but when I actually attempted to update through SEUS and the other one (I forget the name!) I just get told that my s/w is up to date.

I'll give it another bash tonight and see what happens since you seem to have had some luck!

Edit: Nope no luck. 2.1 is still "up to date" as far as my phone is concerned, stupid thing!

My girlfriend has an unbranded x10 on o2 and we upgraded hers last week. I know four other people with x10's on o2, two are unbranded two are branded.
Both the unbranded ones have updated but the branded ones, like mine, are saying we have the latest sofware 2.1.
o2 were very clear what they said, I still have their email, they have no plans to release it for branded x10,s.

Hello Garry

Thanks for your email.

You have a branded o2 Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 version 2.1. it has the latest software. We are not going to release version 2.3 for branded phones. The update is available on the Sony Ericson site for unbranded phones, but o2 have not approved this software for branded phones so will not be releasing it.

I have emailed their complaints dept about this and asked them for a clear yes or no, are they going to release it or not, as I am not happy with what I have been told, this is what they sent me:

Hello Gary

I won't comment about the release of the software version 2.3 on our network.

Thanks for emailing us.

Considering I asked for a simple yes or no answer, the above reply is just insulting!
I dont think I will be staying with o2 when my contract runs out!
