I am running a unbranded rooted (using CF-Root) SGS2 using GINGERBREAD.XWKE7. There is a new firmware update as we all know but after my phone downloads it, it fails to install after the requested reboot. Can anyone help me by telling what the firmware version and where I can get it please?

Any help would be grateful.:D

after ur phone downloads it? are u using automatic updates via Kies or something? (not sure how this works, ive never done it via kies or thru the phone before :D)

but if ur rooted, u should be familiar with flashing via Odin..

check out this link and download XXKG5 (OXA Poland) the newest official firmware being released on kies. flash that via Odin. that'd update ur firmware but remove root. to root again, go to the CF root page and download the KG5 CF root kernel here:

job done :)

Update - I'm now running 2.3.4 having found another post. Simples. Heshanj your contribution is much appreciated in helping others and gave me the confidence to give it a go. Many thanks

Sorry to jump on this thread but I just want to feel 100% sure before I upgrade my SGS2 to KG5.
Until now I've always used Kies to update official firmware which is currently I9100XXKE7 02UKG2 but feel I'm missing out waiting for 2.3.4 to come to the UK. So i'm prepared to take the plunge and have downloaded Odin + the Poland version of KG5 FROM xda. As I want to stay with official software and don't want to change any installed programs can I just flash the KG5 and not worry about the root part?
It is this that is confusing me as I thought I could upgrade the firmware with Odin without rooting.
Am I missing something?

Appreciate any clarification
