Root liquid thunderbread

This is what's driving me CRAZY about using AOSP anything right now. I flashed CM7 RC1.4 yesterday, played with it and got it completely set up, which for me took a few hours to get it *just right*.

By the way, my Quadrant scores were like 3400 or higher on CM7. That's with it completely jacked up at 1.8 Ghz.

But my daughter was out working with me today and I usually just have her stream Netflix to keep her occupied (she's 7 years old...)... and every few seconds, it had to buffer endlessly, most of the time never resuming video, just hanging there. Did that where signal was known to be good.

Digdug, from what you're saying, it sounds like you experienced the same sort of thing with Thunderbread. My guess is that data won't really be reliable on these ROMs until either HTC releases the source code for RIL, or until we get an official Gingerbread OTA from which they can put together complete AOSP ROMs.

You guys had me almost convinced to try this, but I really need to have reliable data, so it's back to BAMF Sense 3.0 RC4.9 I go...

I don't trust quadrant way too many things affect performance that aren't taken into account with it.

The only issue I've really seen with data on AOSP roms is how it is reported on the status bar. From what I understand it has the same signal as Sense roms just reporting is different. Netflix is touchy with AOSP roms there are several other apks around for Netflix, no links right now but I can fish them out if you want me to.

The Netflix app I was using came from the market. If you know of one that would work better, I would sure like to have it. My signal strength still shows minimum most of the time, but I don't care about that as long as things work like they're supposed to.

I was using speakeasy to determine my speeds. It was undeniably slower on thunderbread until 2.5. For me this versions speeds are comparable to bamf. I can't really explain why lol, but I have the test results to prove it.

I've been having issues with the market not showing my apps restored via titanium backup (even with market doctor), I modified the print to "ro.build.fingerprint=google/sojus/crespo4g:2.3.4/GRJ22/121341:user/release-keys" in the build.prop, cleared data for the market, rebooted and all my apps showed, I can get screenshots if anyone needs them.

I had tried that but it still wasn't working. This worked and per XDA or rootzwiki where I found this, LTB stock is not showing the "full" market, I am not sure what apps are not being shown, I think what this does is allows the market app to show apps you can't buy because the dev decided to specify which phones could install the app and did not choose the bolt. I was able to pull up the market link for madden and it is not available for the bolt or many phones from what I understand.

So since 3.0 is floating around, figured I'd bump this thread, even though he changed the name to Liquid Gingerbread..

First impressions, love it! Always like Liquid's ROM's, and this one is pretty sweet! I like all the mods in it's own app and a ton of mods there are in this build.

Did a full system, data, cache, dalvik wipe for this install. Coming from SHITAO5P, I mean SHIFTAO5P, 2.1, that I could never quite get to run the way I wanted I decided to start fresh.

Stock JD kernel seems solid, ran it while I set everything up and flashed Imo's 3.5.8 to finish off the install. JD might not be a bad choice if you don't mind using Incredicontrol.

I did have to do the Sense, GPS trick to get a lock even with the GPS.Conf script, but all is well now. Build in tether works just fine, takes a couple tries to connect initially, but that's normal for CM7 based ROM's. I'm thinking Liquid deserves a donation for this effort.

I did not have to do the gps thing. I rebooted into recovery with an active lock when I wiped and flashed.

You only seem to lose the GPS lock when you format the system files. A normal data/reset wont clear them, but I wanted to start with a blank slate. Otherwise it probably would have been fine.

The liquid 3.0 install script formats system. I did not know for sure that it did, so I formatted system before I installed, so I ended up formatting system twice (not that that makes a difference). I have been rebooting into recovery from with an active gps lock and I have not had to do the sense trick. Not sure if it really works or if I am just lucky.

hmm.. I dont know what I did then cause I definitely lost my GPS lock. Maps, Navigation, Places, all wouldn't load, said it wasn't available in my area.

I have had it go away, too, for no apparent reason. I had the bug where the switch does not actually turn on gps even though it thinks it does. The sense flash fixed that, too.

I wonder sometimes if we are completely off base on the A-GPS thing, and that it is a bug in the way AOSP interacts with the gps radio. Maybe it does not properly initialize things, and in some cases it does not work properly, but if you lock in sense, the initialization error does not show up. This type of error would better explain the two symptoms of AOSP gps issues--the switch problem and the no-lock problem are both better explained by something like this than by an A-GPS issue.

Was running 3.0 since last night and it was flawless. Other than CM7 it's my favorite ROM ATM. I may give it the edge over CM because it has many more tweaks.

Got an updated 3.0 earlier and just flashed it. It's even better than the previous, IMO. He added a font chooser to liquid settings which has 195 fonts  and a liquid theme chooser, which I haven't checked out because I make my own themes.

One thing he added which I'm a HUGE fan of is the style of the slider for the answer screen. I always hated the rotary unlock so this to me is one of the best features available. Rocking the Moto "vanilla" slider and it works perfectly.

As this is in "donate nightlies" PM me if you want the d/l. Sorry, not everyone can have it
