Official Droid Eris 2.1 OS coming very soon.

Just thought I'd let you guys know, should be coming very soon, I don't have an exact date but, I currently am running a Verizon Official Software that I got from work .

Good on ya for getting it posted right away and getting that link, later in the thread, to the file. Now we've got more folks using the software and reporting their results. You've probably done a service to the Eris community here in just showing that the software is being developed and making progressive changes.

It looks like the OTA is coming down to the wire on their "before the end of Q1" delivery prediction.

Nice surprise to see this thread going on this morning. ;)

Perhaps I am slow but I need some clarification.

Currently I am aware of five potential options of OS is this correct?

1.5 Official Verizon
????1.5 Rooted Version???

2.1a leak from xda
2.1a leak rooted version

2.1b leak from zxphenomenalxz
????2.1b leak rooted??????

As you can tell I am unsure about options 5 and 6...hence the ?'s

can someone clear this up for me?

We should try using appbrain to reinstall our apps after we do this (instead of installing apps from backup), because then we'll get app updates from the market again.

As others have asked. Does this version keep already installed apps intact, or do you have to reinstall from market or backup?

If you reinstall from a backup you will not get updates in the market.

To my way of thinking, thenestor has offered the best answer for app backups and reinstall. Get the app AppBrain and sync to their servers before you do the update. Naturally for you early adopters that won't work, but for us folks who missed the initial announcement, it'll make lives somewhat easier.
(I can see I'm not going to be very productive at work today, gonna be too busy updating my phone and dinking with it).

Up and running now. My signal is MUCH better on this leak. 4 bars instead of 1. I still had the 50% without problem this morning, but in my case that may have been legitimate.

This build does take care of a few bugs, but it doesn't look to be that different from the previous build. If you are having serious signal problems on the original leak this may be your answer. I am going to do some more testing and report back, but this is what I have noticed so far:

Sign in problem is gone
Signal strength improved
Gmail images still not showing
Links in apps still dead
Google voice still not dialing properly on 3.2
Missing apps are still missing
Speed is still good

Can anyone tell me if this build resolves the issue of low-res facebook images when linked to contacts in the people app? And does that stupid Amazon MP3 application keep getting auto-launched in the background?

Also, does installing this on top of the previous leak blow everything away, apps, messages, configuration, etc?

Thanks for the details. Did you go into airplane mode to fix the 50% bug?
