Help please help me, my Dell has major issues

Hi Guys,

I'm new here, but have been trying to read and understand everything about my dell streak 5 and its problems. So let me give you an idea of what's wrong:

First of all, I bought a Dell streak 5 via the internet, second hand. I knew it was in a bootloop, but it was very cheap and thought I could fix it. So far there's not luck on my side.

The phone is in a logo bootloop. I tryed several methods, but all are in vain. One of the main problems, is I can't get the phone in connected to the pc. Offcourse I can connect it, hardware wise, but nothing happens, so there's no connection, not even in fastboot mode.

I think I took all of the necessary steps. I installed the dell streak pc suite, but also the QDL tool.


Please help me guys, I'm, quite desperate!

Hi Spitsebeest. I wanted to welcome you to Android Forums. I'm afraid I do not have an answer for your bootloop problem. Please be patient, if someone has something to offer, they will chime in.

I have dell streak 5 and to remove all previous data i did factory reset by method:
1. Keep pressed volume key up and down and push start button until the the reset factory options cam.
2. By selecting erase all data, press camera button to start.

After that phone starts self restarting after each 10 mins!! What happened is OS corrupted??
OR advice if you can help me on this

Uninstall Dell PC suite and look for the Dell Fastboot and USB drivers

NO I will not, there are guides all over the internet, best ones for the Streak are on xda developers and MoDaCo forums... DO NOT start a thread in either forum asking for help... ANY information you could possibly need is already there, please don't be lazy

Hi,

I explored Xda forum and got the way of flashing stock ROM as suggested but after doing flashing now my phone stuck at dell logo.
Phone Description: ROM version 318, build 12821 and had followed the below steps to flash ROM
1.download drivers from Dell Official Site - The Power To Do More | Dell to recognize my phone to PC , while updating the dell streak usb driver in your PC
2. then download the recovery image of 318 from the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak
4. download update package 318 from same link.
5. download multirecovery flasher " http://www.4shared.com/file/p22LB2uD/MultiRecoveryFlasherv051.html" and unzip it in c:\ drive
6. rename the update package into update.pkg if its in other name
7. place that update.pkg into sd card and recovery.img into the multirecovery flasher folder and name that multirecovery flasher into some easy name like "streak".
8. then make sure that dell streak is recognized in your computer
9. then turn your dell streak off and wait for 5 sec and then press power button as well as camera button at the same time and it will show a white screen with fastboot option on the right top side
10. then wait untill there is a msg like, 'waiting for fastboot device'
11. wait for 10secs and then plug your usb cable of dell streak into your computer.
12. wait for fastboot mode_ txt.
13. then go to the command prompt in your computer (press start-accessories-command prompt)
14. then type ('"c:\.......) cd\ " )
15. then type (" c:\)cd streak ")
16. then type ("c:\streak)fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img ")
17. press enter, and wait untill success report pops up.
18. then type ("c:\streak)fastboot -i 0x413c reboot "") and remove the battery
19. dont let the phone reboot instantly press both volume up and down as well as the power button at once
20. then phone will turn on in recovery mode
21. select option "2. upgrade rom from update.pkg from sdcard option" with the help of volume down key and press camera button to start then

BUT AFTER THAT PHONE IS STUCK AT DELL LOGO NOTHING HAPPENING....

So in other words when you chose the option to update from update.pkg it never actually began the update process? If this is so then you did something wrong such as not flashing the 318 recovery correctly

No after entering safe from update.pkg its stated with a android logo processed with select ing package, updating package but after completion when devices rebooted then it remains stuck on dell logo..

Please suggest another way (i.e custom rom) if that can resolve the issue!!

Boot into recovery again and instead of choosing option to update choose option 1 to do a factory reset... if it won't boot after a couple attempts at factory reset then it sounds like you have a problem with your internal SD and may have to change it or download the 318 update.pkg again... flash it again and try factory reset again
