Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

So don't know if you guys remember a while back when I was moaning about super slow data speeds on T-Mobile...

Dude.

It was like two days ago or something.

Next time you're at Java Joe's just go for the single espresso.

Ok, j/k - no one can go for just a single espresso. :D

^ Sounds like a nice Thanksgiving. Hope everyone else has a Happy Thanksgiving as well!

Decided to come in to work half a day yesterday and all day today since my mother-in-law was at home with the wife and babies helping out this week. That way I can take off next week when she goes back home. It's nice and quiet here :)

So which one is it, because your wife has help, or because the MIL is there? ;)

Wanted to mention this here, Motorola customer service is TOP NOTCH! For my AT&T pre-order, there was a delay in shipping and after calling about it they sent me a $25 Google Play Card. Well last week I ordered a case for my wife's Moto X from their site with a clear back and yellow trim. It came in yesterday but was black instead of yellow. This case is $40 after taxes and shipping so I just called wanting to get it staightened out and swap it. Have them send me another with a pre-paid package to send the one I received back. They told me to keep what I received and they would send me the correct color for free. No hassle. :)

I don't know if it's a placebo effect or what, but I can definitely feel a difference in snappiness on the Nexus 5 running ART instead of Dalvik.

Battery life is supposed to be better too, although I'll have to give it a few days to really tell.

And the T-Mobile LTE signal is FAST and steady.

So don't know if you guys remember a while back when I was moaning about super slow data speeds on T-Mobile. I'd get a very fast initial burst of speed, and then a HUGE slow down to just a few kbps. It was driving me nuts. I found a work-around by using a VPN at all times, but it was a hassle and meant paying a monthly fee for VPN service.

Well, it seems I'm not crazy, and T-Mobile has listened to its customers and is rolling out a fix.

Choosing T-Mobile over the big red pimple is looking better and better!

:D

Hmmm... this helps me.

Thinking of making the jump, Steven?

I am Han, but here's the thing. I have a 20 data discount per line saving 80 dollars a month. My bill for 4 comes to 230 with tax. No one else can match that. The only way I can upgrade practically, financially, would be to go to the "edge" program and lose my unlimited. I'm kinda stuck and very frustrated.

I see why you're frustrated. On T-Mobile, I'm paying about $155 for 2 unlimited-everything lines. Comes with 2.5GB of free tethering a month. Much faster speeds than the Big Red Pimple.

But you've got a pretty good deal going payment-wise.

T-Mobile will come out more expensive to you if you do unlimited on all 4 lines, but if you do the JUMP! program, at least you can upgrade every 6 months. (I have JUMP on my line, but not my wife's.)

Just saw that they are offering the Moto X contract free for $349/$399 on "Cyber" Monday for all carriers through the Moto maker site.

I was considering a service called Straight Talk. Its like $30 a month but you have to buy the phone. Anyone think this is a good deal or know about the service they provide.

Someone I know tried it but quit after a month because they were throttled after 2GB of data.

I think the policy is 2.5GB before throttling, but she said she was throttled before that.

There is also no hotspot tethering allowed.

EDIT:

Here's an article on some of those issues.
