Root L710T: Rooting instructions in one location?

Hi there, I will try to keep this brief--I am a newbie interested in learning how to root. I wiped my Samsung SPH-L710T (Note it is a T model), build number KOT49H-L710TVPUoAOH1. I have surfed around forums for about a month now and thank goodness found out the the T part of the model name makes the difference with rooting this device. The device is wiped, I have not added any apps or used the device for anything at all in order to preserve its "factory" status in case it is helpful for rooting. It is not used as a phone at the moment but would like to in the future. My question is: Is there a single location where I will find basic instructions for rooting this device? I see lots of links to other threads related to problems I haven't encountered yet and am getting overwhelmed before I have even started. LOL Thank you in advance! :)

Rooting is the same for the triband model. The instructions for root here in the s3 forum work just fine. It says rooting mk5 but it still works. I would use the newest twrp recovery instead of philz (its outdated and no longer developed). But other than that it works fine.
Instructions here
Instead of philz recovery, use twrp from here.
Get the newest .tar listed.
And use a newer SuperSU zip file from here
The rest is correct. Those instructions work for sprint, boost, and virgin Mobile s3's. Tribands too.

The difference in triband comes when trying to flash roms. I can help you there too, when you're ready.

Thank you both for your help! Another pair of newbie questions--regarding roms, after I root, will my original rom still be there and functional? And regarding mk5, is there any advantage to doing that update?

Mydian is correct (as usual). Mk5 is way old. That's just when the root instructions were made. Its still the correct root method, so it hasn't been updated.
Don't odin flash anything mk5, it will likely brick you.

Hello again, I was getting situated with downloads and files when I discovered I have an Odin 3.07 zip (I had downloaded it prior to discovering the "T" issue) which came with a CF-auto-root .tar and did not come with a .pit file, which Odin 3.04 zip came with (from link in the instructions referred to above). I also downloaded the .tar file per above instructions (TWRP) so naturally I am at a crossroads. :D

Should I continue using the Odin 3.07 or using the Odin 3.04?

:)

I have always used 3.07 without any issues and there is a .09&10. If you downloaded the TWRP and SuperSU update zip from the links provided by @Madbat then that should be all you need.
Copy SuperSU zip to your SD card.
Flash the TWRP file with Odin, unchecked Auto Reboot.
When you get Pass with Odin, unplug phone and remove battery.
Replace battery and boot into recovery, should be TWRP recovery
Select install, locate SuperSU update zip that you copied to phone and select it.
Swipe to install. After flash, select Reboot System and done.
