What's the weather like where you are?

Cold and windy

We had a little rain yesterday, and while watching the local news something struck me as funny: All the local newscasts show videos viewers have sent in--of rain. Seriously.

They also always stick some unlucky reporter (and camera person) out in the rain to show us that, you know, it's raining.

(If you're lost, here's the backstory: I'm a native Angeleno, but I lived in three other states before returning to SoCal for good in 2006. I lived through hurricanes (Florida) and tornadoes (in Tornado Alley, Dallas), with their torrential downpours and flooding. A gentle rain that lasts a few minutes is not newsworthy...to me. :rolleyes:)

Monday and Tuesday I received 4.67 inches of rain here at the house. All of the low lying areas flooded some and naturally it was a bit wet to mow my lawns. Yesterday it was beautiful with temps in the mid seventies and lots of blue sky. Today was overcast with rain in the forecast. It rained North and South of me but only a trace here so far. More rain tomorrow and Saturday with eight of the next ten days with a good chance. I'm tired of it already.

Well, because as we all know, it never rains in southern California.

Yesterday was like that old joke: "If yo don't like the weather, wait five minutes"

Almost 17 inches of rain so far this month and it's raining. I had to make a mad dash from the cabin this morning because the river came up over night and was rising. Had to traverse a 100 yards or so of river that had breached the road in there and flowing though the fields. Feels good to be home. Picture is taken from my deck towards the river.

Summer in the South @olbriar?

Kansas of all places Bobby. It seems like Southern Arkansas or Northern Louisiana to me.
It is typical to receive rains here this time of year. Normally it's not daily and in such heavy doses. This flat ground and it's shallow rivers aren't adequate to disperse the heavy rains.
18 inches in a couple of weeks is a lot of rain for most places. It's way too much for this area.

@joe71 That's Summer to me.

I'm still wearing a sweater but I traded the short sleeved shirt for long sleeves and a sweater. My newspaper guy at my transit terminal told me "Feels like Winter again." I was like "Crazy huh?".
40's in Boston.

@olbriar I stayed in Kansas City for a week. Has the canal/creek overflowed?

I can't say. I'm in the Wichita area. Most of the rains have been across the Southern part of the state. I'm guessing that KC has not seen the rains that's fallen local to me. That is only my guess.

It was cloudy most of the day and sprinkled just a bit early this morning. For the most part it was a nice day. Gentle breeze and temps in the upper sixties. I'll take it.
